# **& Statement of Financial Activity for the period 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2022** 

## **1. Introduction** 

## **1.1 Charitable Objects** 

The objectives, as set out in the Constitution, are: 

(a) To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Alderney and the neighbourhood (hereinafter called ‘the Area Of Benefit’) without distinction of sex or of political, religious or other opinions by associating the local authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants; 

(b) To establish or to secure the establishment of a Community Centre (hereinafter called “the Centre”) and to maintain and manage, or to co-operate with any local statutory authority in the maintenance and management of such a Centre for activities promoted by the Association and its constituent bodies in furtherance of the above objects.. 

## **2. Activities & Achievements** 

## **2.1 Outputs & Outcomes** 

Alderney Manor main output is to provide a safe place for community groups to meet, the main output is maintaining the building to a standard where it provides a warm and welcoming meeting place.  This enables all of our community to benefit. 

## **2.2 Policies on Grant-Making and/or Social Investments** 

The charity does not make any grants, or make social or programme-related investments. 

The charity does provide rent free space to vulnerable groups in the community. 

## **2.3 The Roles & Contributions of Volunteers** 

The roles of our volunteers encompass a wide range of responsibilities and activities. They act as advocates, raising awareness about social issues and promoting positive change.  Volunteers serve as fundraisers, organising events and activities to generate financial support for the charity. Additionally, volunteers take on the role of mentors and educators, sharing their knowledge and expertise to empower others through education and personal development. 

## **2.4 How the Public Have Benefitted** 

We have recognised the most vulnerable groups in our community and provide free meeting space regularly for people with memory loss and residents who have suffered strokes.

## **3. Financial Review** 

## **3.1 Details of Any Funds Materially in Deficit** 

The Charity has no funds which are materially in deficit. 

## **3.2 Policy on Reserves** 

We have a reserve fund of £20,000.00 banked in a savings account with Santander Bank 

## **3.3 Principal Sources of Funding** 

Our main source of income is from “Alderney Manor Social Club Ltd” which we have a Deed of Covenant set up.  Hall hire provides income from groups who use the hall on the weekdays and hire for private parties at weekends 

## **3.4 Remuneration of Trustees** 

All Trustees act in a voluntary capacity and receive no remuneration or other material benefits from their services to the Charity. 

Out-of-pocket expenses necessarily and reasonably incurred by Trustees in promoting the purposes of the Charity are reimbursed at cost.

## **5. Structure, Governance & Management** 

## **5.1 Type of Governing Document** 

Alderney Manor Community Association’s governing document is the “Constitution of the Alderney manor Community Centre” dated 30th January 1986 

## **5.2 Charitable Objects** 

The objectives, as set out in the Constitution, are: 

- (a) To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Alderney and the neighbourhood (hereinafter called ‘the Area Of Benefit’) without distinction of sex or of political, religious or other opinions by associating the local authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants;

The Association shall be non-party in politics and non-sectarian in religion. 

The Association shall have power to affiliate to the National Federation of Community Organisations and to other organisations with similar charitable objects. 

The Trustees consider that the main activities of Alderney Manor Community Association are in accordance with the objectives and that they are of public benefit. The Trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charities Commission on public benefit. 

## **5.3 Statutory Declaration** 

The Trustees confirm that they have paid due regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit in deciding what activities the charity should undertake. 

## **5.4 Trustee Selection Methods** 

There must be at least three charity trustees.   The maximum number of trustees is 12. 

In accordance with the Constitution, Trustees are appointed or re-appointed annually by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the full members of the association. 

In appointing Trustees due consideration is given to ensuring that the Trustees have, between them, the skills and experience necessary to manage the charity effectively and in accordance with charity law.

## **Responsibilities of Management Committee and Examiner** 

The committee members are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’). 

I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

## **Independent Examiner’s Statement** 

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to conclude that in any respect: 

- Accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act, or 

- The accounts do not accord with the accounting records 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
