Summary of the maln actlvltl•s In rolatlon to the8e obJ•ct•
The Orchestra presented six concerts during this year, irKluding five for the general publk and
a final concert for Friends of the Orchestra.
Achlevements and Perfornmnce
This has been a successful year fof the Orchestra.
Th8 Orchestra was able to perfomi the usual six concerts during this season. Despite the
general cost InC￿ase$ that continue, our audience numbers remained consistent throughout
the sea50n. We therefore r￿1Ved income from t￿et sales. subscriptions, fijndraising from
Ea8yFundraising and raffle tid(•ts from the Friends o)n¢ert.
We have had the usual veTru8 hire costs, music hi￿, sololst fees, Music81 Director and Le*1
fees, and any other ad hoc fees relevant lo the wnning of the Orchestra.
Memborship
We are again delighted to welcome back existing member5 and also to welcome sorng new
ones. We have maintained the cost of subscriptions which was rarsed slightty in the previous
season to cover rehearsal ￿Sts and ensure thal the Orchestra can conlinue to operat8.
Fri•nd8' Schemo
Th8 Friends, sdieme continues to opefate during this year. and the income from them is vitalfy
important to the Orchestra, and we thank them kn Iheir suppjrt for last year and in ihe coming
year.

We have remained with our policy to offer discounted seats to children at all concerts, and
continue to offer season tickets so audience members can attend a full season of concerts at
discounted price. which has been a succYJsful initiatlve.

Appreciation is due to all who serve on the ccmnmiliee. Th8S8 8SS8ntial roles have been fulfilled
by considerable tirne 5acrrfice and without whth the Orchestra coukl not operate. Thanks also
goes to our Mu&cal Director for his support and guidance. We extend our thanks to Callie
Rich, who took over the role of Chair dulln9 this season, and to Christine Kelk, who h8S taken
over the Secretary role for this season.
Futurn Plans
We continue to look forward lo rehearsals p8rfomiing challenging and innovating program$.
inspiring audiences. and giving Northampton ac£￿ to an Orchestra rt Can be proud of.
Flnancial Revlew
The Orchestra's primary income is still member subscriptK)ns to cover rehearsal co8t8 and
ticket sales to cover concert costs. The Friends, membership covers the cost8 of the Friends
concert at the end of the season.
Our maln expenses are rehearsal costs, concert hall and music hire and conductof's fees. The
soloist fees for our concerts in November and March were covered by donalions from
8UPWter of the Orchestra who wishes to remain anonymous. so we extend our thank8 to
them.

Inve8tment pollcy
The Orchestra has again benefrtted from the interest T￿lved frc¥n reseTr￿ h81d at Market
Harborough Building Society in both thé 60 day and 7-day notice accounts. Both alxounts are
held under dual signatory and are protected by the FSCS.
Risk revièw
As sufficient funds are held in reser4e. there is no immediate risk. However, cijmmittee
will continue to assess the srtuation and art accordingly.

Independent Examination of Orchestra's accounts during the year, and has expressed
willingness to ¢onlinue in that capacty. This report has been p￿pared in aco)rdance with the
Statement of Recommended PTacknce SORP {FRS102) issued 1¥1 October 2019. and th8
Charitie5 Act 2011.
Publ1¢ Benofft Statement
Northampton Symphony Orchestra promotes classicAI concerts which increase the amount of
qualty live classical rnusic concerts in the Northamptonshire area. The Orchestra provides
heavily discounted seats for under sixteens to 8ncourage appreciation of orchestral music in
the young. Through weekty rehearsals local musicians are provided an opportunity to engage
in the art of classical musk perfomianc* by playing in one of the leading amateur orchestras
in the UIQ NSO does not provide tuition.

The main obligation of the committee in preparing the ac¢Lwnts is to give a true and fair view
of the Orchestra's incoming resources 8nd applution of resources during the year and of its
State of affairs at the erKI of the year. Tho (xjrnmtttee is iesp(msible for maintaining proper
accounting records which disclose wtth rea80nable accuracy at any time the financial posltlon
of the Orchestra and enable them io ensure that the financial statements cornp￿ with the
Statement of Re¢ommend8d Practice
Accounting and Reporting by Charities. The
committee is also responsible for safeguardirwJ the assets of the Orchestra and hence for
taking reasonable Steps for the prevention arKI deteGlion of fraud and other Ionng of abuse.
