He then became a specialist in Subaquatic and Hyperbaric Medicine in 2011 (University of Barcelona, Spain, European accreditation hyperbaric level 2D and H) and also a specialist in Medicine of Physical Education and Sports (University of Barcelona). Since 2008 he works at the Department of Hyperbaric Oxygen of the CRIS-UTH, Hospital Moisses Brogges, Sant Joan Despi in Barcelona, with Dr Jordi Desola. During his medical practice at CRIS-UTH, he attends a lot of chronic patients, has managed a wide range of emergencies, and has performed many medical examinations to both sport and commercial divers including Saturation Diving candidates. In addition, he serves as the Assistance Coordinating at CRIS-UTH. He teaches in hyperbaric and diving medicine at the University of Barcelona, is a lecturer at the Master on Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine, organised by CRIS-UTH every year for the University of Barcelona. Since 2020 he is a regular collaborator for Divers Alert Network (DAN) Europe. He has attended the annual EUBS meetings in the last years, representing CRISUTH among other colleagues, presenting oral and/or poster communications. EUBS ExCom Elections 2021 Vice-President 2021-2024 **Jean-Eric Blatteau** Toulon, France **Bengusu Mirasoglu** Istanbul, Turkey ## EUBS ExCom Elections 2021 ## ELECTED as Vice-President 2021-2024 **Bengusu Mirasoglu** Istanbul, Turkey Dr MIRASOGLU was born in Istanbul in 1978 and completed her Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine residency training in 2008 at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine. Since then she has been actively working in the field. From 2009 to October 2012 she was chief of the Hyperbaric Medicine unit and Wound Care Center at Lutfi Kirdar Research and Training Hospital, Burn and Wound Care Center, after working for the establishment of the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Unit. Since November 2012 she works in Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine Department, and is responsible for in-patient, out-patient departments and HBOT unit. She is currently Associate professor at the Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine Department (since 2012; assoc. prof since 2020). She is co-author of 20 international and 10 national publications in journals and 27 international conference presentations. Also co-author of more than 60 presentations in national conferences. She has been chapter author in three books. CMAS three star diver, runner and swimmer. She participated in scientific diving projects with the Institute of Marine Biology and archeology diving projects (Kizilburun Column Wreck Excavation and Kekova expeditions) by the Institute of Nautical Archeology. Bengu has been a Member at Large for the EUBS from 2016 – 2020 and now serves as the EUBS’ Social Media Manager. ## EUBS ExCom Elections 2021 LEAVING ExCom as Member at Large 2018 **François Guerrero** Brest, France François Guerrero is a full-time professor at the Faculty of Sciences of sport and education of Brest (France), where he teaches exercise physiology in relation with health prevention. In 1993, he obtained a PhD in physiology at the Faculty of Medicine of Marseille (France) on the effects of high ambient pressures on carotid blood flow.His research activities are focused mainly on the prevention of decompression sickness (DCS), from cell and animal models to the diver. During the PHYPODE European Commission program (2012-2014), which he coordinated, his team investigated the interactions between endothelial function and DCS. Based on data from these studies, their focus is now on investigating the genetics of DCS. François is a member of the scientific board of the French Society of Hyperbaric and Diving Medicine (MedSubHyp). He is a member of the EUBS since 2010. He is 57 years old, married, with 2 sons and lives in Brest, at the western end of France. In 2020 numbers were a bit lower (COVID-19?). Our number of publications almost doubled in the period of relevance to the latest IF because of the surge in submissions (and despite the rejection rate being much higher than at any time before). Our citations did increase, but because of the number of publications the IF fell. I would encourage people not to become obsessed with it. We are never going to have an IF that reflects the value of the journal to the societies no matter what the quality of the papers because of the narrow niche field we occupy. UHM fell also and is still lower than us. I suspect the IF may bounce again next year because the surge has fallen away, and we will publish less papers in the 2021 – 22 period.
