2. Charity Structure

The Rotary Club of Bookham & Horsley is part of the worldwide organisation Rotary International and was formed in 1972. The purpose of the club is to provide support to local, national and international charities and other needy causes.

All funds raised for charitable purposes are administered through the Charitable Trust which was constituted by a Declaration of Trust on 2[nd] October 1972. Donations are made to charities, and other bodies where there is a defined need for funds. The club membership decides on charitable giving by ballot, each member having one vote.

The trustees of the Charitable Trust are three Council members of the club, elected each year at the AGM of the club.

The trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit when considering requests for donations.

Fundraising during the year 2024/2025 comprised a number of events run for this purpose including a Murder Mystery Evening, two Bridge Evenings, a quiz, a musical evening, a cycling event, a Brunch and Santa and his Sleigh Christmas collections.
