SAVES RESPONDERS ARE VOLUNTEERS WHO GIVE THEIR TIME FREELY TO RESPOND IN SUPPORT OF SOUTH WESTERN AMBULANCE SERVICE NHS TRUST (SWASFT).  FUNDING FROM THE SOMERSET CLINCIAL COMMISSIONING GROUP IS PREDOMINENTLY USED FOR THE REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES FOR ACTIVE SAVES RESPONDERS FOLLOWING THE PRINCIPLE THAT, WHILST THEY GIVE THEIR TIME FREELY, THEY SHOULD NOT BE “OUT OF POCKET” AS A RESULT OF THEIR WORK.  SOME FUNDING IS ALSO MADE AVAILABLE TO EMPLOYERS/PARTNERSHIPS OF SAVES RESPONDERS IN RECOGNITION OF CALL OUTS DURING WORKING HOURS TO SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGE THE RELEASE OF DOCTORS TO RESPOND TO SAVES CALLS.
