## **APCM REPORT ON CHURCH YEAR ACTIVITIES - JANUARY 2020 T0 31[ST] DECEMBER 2020**

St. Pega’s have had a very quiet year in 2020 with events and fund-raising, due to the Covid-19 virus. We did, however, manage to celebrate St. Pega’s Patronal Festival during Evensong in January. Dr. Samatha Graper paid a return visit to sing a hymn, composed in Latin in St. Pega’s honour by a 13[th] century monk of Crowland Abbey. It was absolutely wonderful and well attended!

We held one church brunch in the village hall in February 2020 just before lockdown. This is a wonderful community event, always a packed village hall with the added bonus of raising an amazing record amount of £550.55.

A Benefice Pancake Supper was held in Peakirk Village Hall on Shrove Tuesday and was very well attended and a huge success. A Benefice Lent Course started, also held in Peakirk Village Hall and led by Freda Skillman. It sadly that had to be cancelled in its third week due to Government Guidelines with Covid-10.

Lockdown started on 23[rd] March and the annual Lent lunch was unable to go ahead, along with the Mothering Sunday Service which was streamed from Maxey church instead. All future church services, including the Easter Services were then held on line from the Rectory.

Plans were already well in hand for bi-annual May Fete with a VE Day theme but could not be held. This is a joint event with the church and village hall.

In June, Brian Lever organised a fund-raising event by building and flying a model aeroplane in the garden for 1004 laps (the age of St. Pega’s) and raised just over £2,500 in donations. A big thank you to Brian for his efforts.

At the beginning of July, it was agreed that the church could be re-opened for Personal Prayer on a Wednesday from 10.00am until 4.00pm, and for a service each Sunday. A rota was organised for each Wednesday and this continued until the end of October. All the Government Guidelines were put in place, for church services with seating arrangements in the pews socially distanced, hand gel on entry and exit and a Track and Trace scheme put in place. Lots of posters were printed off explaining the situation.

At the beginning of November, we unfortunately had to close the church due to another complete lockdown and services were once again streamed from the Rectory.

As we were unable to all get together for the annual Carol Service and Nine Readings in Church, it was decided to record a Benefice one with our Virtual Choir. A big thank to all concerned; David Hankins took some wonderful photographs of the church which were included, and especially to Simon Richards who had the work of putting the whole service together.

The tree in the churchyard was as usual decorated with lights, including the five robins on the tree. Thank you to David, Rob and Tristan who kindly organise the lights every year.

The church reopened on 6[th] December for Evensong with all the Government Guidelines in place. Our Christingle Service was held as part of the morning service the following week. After a demonstration and explanation of the Christingle by Revd. Mark-Aaron, take-away bags were given to members of the congregation with all the items needed to make their own Christingle at home.

Family Communion was held on Christmas Day, and as Peterborough was then in Tier 4, people had to inform us if they wished to attend and a seating plan was put in place.

We would like to thank everyone for their support during this strange and difficult year with the Covid virus.
