the New Jerusalem in Gre8t Brllain In furthera￿￿ of its Dbiectives to pwenl, teach and maintain the doctrines of
the New Jerusalem Church as contained in the Theological Writings of Emanuel SWe¢Jent￿rg. The Council's policy
is to maintain and accrue Sufficient ftjnds that wll enable this activty to be carried on and extended in the future-
using an investment objective of maximising retums by way of divid8nds and Interest received and long term
capital appreciation.

the following comments on the various funds, will enable members to obtain a fijll pidure of the financial position of
the Council.

The Council's investment slratsgy is lo spread equity risk from the UK to a mre global footprint,. however the
proposal lo reduce holdings in the Cazenove Ch8rity Equity Value Fund still remains on hold awaiting slabilisah'on
in the financial markets The overall value of the Council's investments improved slighuy sinrE the end of the last
fnan¢k41 year, howevw not all fvnd¥ showed an improvement.
In September, EdenTre8 closed its Amity Global Equity Fund for Charities and Ihe Investment Sub Committee
deaded to switch to EdenTree's Responsible & Sustainable European Equity Fund. This resultsd in realised gains
of £11,488 for the General Fund and £2,300 for the Propety Mantenance Fund.
The Coun￿[.S own investments had a market value of £1,088.624 at 5th April 2024. showing an ￿nre￿Ill e
investment gain of £255,056 ¢ompafed with a £24S,275 gain at 5th Aprd 2023.
The market value of investments h6k¢ by th8 Council, as Trustees for the Biitish Academy and Ihe Col¢hester and
Michael Church Societies, at 5th April 2024 tol8lled £1,718,115 $lwing an investment gain of £111,657
(2023 £123.275 gain), The Council also holds £89,490 in Vir9in Charity Deposit Aceounts, as TfLsslees for thèse
organisations.

The main use of this fund Is lo support the uses of the Church for the'isolated, circ￿$. Groups and Individu#15 Iri
the Unlled Kingdom. Individual Contribut￿n$ and donations lo the General Fund totalled £6.618, similar lo last
year. Investment income and intèrest on Bank Deposits elc. 8mounted lo £26,710, a 10Vo improvement frorn last
year. The fund ako benefillecl trom a legacy. of £2.000, the esl8te of Mr Christopher de Chazel The
contributson lo Pastors, salaiies, for services to Ihe'open Road, by the Colchesler and Michael Church Pastors,
was maintained at £26,000 with an addIt￿nal £2,000 paid at year end. There was a surplus of income over
expenditure, £4,918, whlch has been transferred lo the General Fund- the bakgnce at Sth April 2024 wa5 £640.041
after allowing foF the unrealised investment gain at that date of £149.68012Q23 £146. 187 gain} and a realised gain
of £11,488 from the transfer of the EdenTree shares.

This fvftd contn"bules towards paslopl ￿la￿S in recognition ol the educational sKle of their work. The investment
incC￿e of this fvnd amounted to £17,507, a small improvemènt on 2U231£16,6781. Payment for the support of
pastoral salanes was maintained at £13.000, with aft èdditional £4,000 paKI at year end. The balance of the lund at
SUI April 2024 was £383,512 after all￿n9 for the investment gain at that date of £93,700 (2023 £89,397
gain}.
Benevolent FuTrd
This fijné is for the purpose of giving help lo such members. frfends 8nd assocsates of the Church in the United
Kingdom and th8ir depèndanls as may be in financial need. This year a number of g￿nIS were made lotalling
£2,556 (2023 £5, 1371, with income for the year totalling £3.50812023 £2,725) The bal8ftce of the fund al Slh April
2024 was £55.041 after allowing for the unrealised investtrnnl gain at that date of £6.51112023 £6.534 gain).
nard￿vIlenhaal_me￿rial Endowment Fund
The purpN)se ofthis fund is lo promote New Church elementary school education, evangelizalion, mr& readable
translations of the Wrilinga and financial autonomy of Church Societtes. The income on this lund's investments
amouTrled to £1,800 and thi5, togeth8r with £6,138 income on the matching funds from the USA, was distributed to
the MTch8el Church an(J Colchester Societies, The balance of the fvnd at 51b Apn"12024 was t38.587 aftgr allowing
for the unrealised investment gain at that date of £5,16512023 £5,157 gain}.
Newsletter Fund
The Newsletter continues to be 5kilfulty edited by Anne Glover and is overseen by the Rev. E. Buss Anne a150
contsnues lo distribute the Newsletter, which is printed to a high standard al reasonable cost. Readers,
contribulic>ns amounted to £1,335, Induding Gift Aid, compared with total expenses for the year of £1,608. This

investments.

The Council is greatly indebted lo Mrs. Nancy Warwck for being the Designated Safeguarding Lead and to her
deputy Mrs. Glynis Williams. Although the Counal r￿'n8 the responsibility of Child Prolo¢tion. the cost is funded
by the BritLSh Academy's Phyllis Cwper Fund.

Company law requires the Directors to prepare ststements for each financial yeaT which give 8 true and fair view of
Ihe Company's finan¢Jal health at the end of the year and of Ihe profit and loss for that period. In preparing those
financial statements.
The Directors are wuired to select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently, and
makejudgemenls and estimates that are reasonable and prudent, and prepare the financial statements on
the going-concern basls unless it is inappropn8te to presume that the Company will continue in business.

This report on the financial statements of the Company for the year ended 5 April 2024, which are sel out on
pages 110 8, is in respect of an examination carried out in accordance with s.145 of the Charities Act 2011.

As the charity's Directors you are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements", you consider that
the audrt requirement of Regulations and s.145 of the Charities Act 2011 do not apply, It is my responsibility lo
issue this report on those financial statements in aGGordance with the terms of the Regulations.
Basls of thls report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission
under s.145151 Ibl of the Charities Act 2011. That examination includes a review of the accounting records kept
by the charity and a comparison of the accounts with those records. It also includes ¢onsidering any unusual
items or disclosures in the financial statements and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any
such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit,
and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
