Tho financial statements have been Prepared in accordance with the accounting policies sel out in the notes to
the finanual statements and compty with the charity's goveming document, the Companies Act 2006 and
'A(*ounling and R6POrting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing
their accounts in 8¢ctsrdancè with thè Financial Rèporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland
IFRS 1021" la5 amended for a￿untIng periods commèneing from 1 January 2016)
Oblectlves and activities
The prinapal objective5 of the society, which 15 8 fegisltrred charrty, are to preserve and improve the standard of
tho connemara breed of ponies within the jurisdiction of the Society to prevent Cruelty lo horses and ponies.
The trustee8 have paid du8 regard to guidance issued by the Charity Commission in ￿e￿ding what 8¢tivities they
should undertake.
A¢hievemgnts and porforniance
During the year under Teview, the society has 50ughl 10 8¢hievè Its principal objectives by providing for owners
and bieeders of connemara ponies a range of seNces including registrations, inspections and testing. 11 also
hosts an annual breed show and publishes in the annual chronicle reports, features and artides that give
cornprèhénsive coverage oflhe society's actiwties that havè promoted the connernara breed.
In respect of it5 activrtie5, the society has paid regard to guidan￿ issued by the Charty Commission in respect of
its activities, the results of which are set out on page 4.
Financial review
Al the Balanee Sheet date, the nel assets (If the sociaty appearing on page 5 arnounted lo £238,988.
In their finanryal management of the society's activrties, the trustees seek lo obl8in an adequate return from the
PTovision ol services and from membership subsciiplions lo support the administrative c0515 of Ihtr soaety and to
take the opportun(ties that arise for the improvement of services lo members.
It is the poll¢y of the society that unrestricted funds which have not been designated fr)r a specific use should be
rnainlained at a level equivalent lo twelve month's expenditure. The trustees considèrs that reserves al this level
will ensure that, in the event of a significant drop in funding, they will be able to eontinue its current activities
while considèration is given to ways in which additional funds may be raised. This level of reserves has been
maintained throughout th8 year.
The trustees have assessed the major risks lo which the society is exposed. and are sat15fied that systems arè in
place lo mitigate exposure to the major risks.
Structure, governan¢• •nd management
The society, by virtue of ils conslilulion as a company limited by guarantee, Is governed by its article8 of
association, as defined by the Cornpanie5 Act 2006.

As the charivs trustèès ol the Company land also its directors for the purposes of cornpany lawl you are
responsible for the preparation of the financial slalemènts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies
A¢t 200e lthe 2006 Act).
Having satisfied Oufsefves that the financial statements of the Company are not required to be audited under Part
16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible for independent examination, we report in respect of our examination of the
Company's financial statements carried out unde¥ section 145 of thè Charrties Act 2011 Ith8 2011 Act). In carrying
out our ex8mination we have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Chartty Commission under section
145151{bl of the 2011 Act.

We have cornpleted our èxamination. We confimi that no matters have ¢ome to our attenti¢)n in connection with the
examination giving us cause lo believe that in any material respect..
accounting records were not kept in respect of the cornpany as ￿qUired by section 386 of the 2008 Act., or

British Connemara Pony Society Limited is a privatè company limited by guarantea incorporated in England
and Wales. The registered office is 24 Mount Pleasant Road. Alton, Hampshire. GU34 1 NN, United Kingdom.
1.1 Accounting conventlon
The financial slalemenls have been prepared in aeeordan¢e with the Companies Acl 2006 and °Accounling
and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recomm6ndèd Practice applicable to charities prèpartng their
accounts in accordan￿ with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic Of Ireland
IFRS 1021. las amended for accounting periods commencing from 1 January 20161. Tho is a Public Benefit
Entity as defined by FRS 102.
The society has taken advantage of the provisions in the SORP for Charities applying FRS 102 Update
Bulletin 1 not to prèpar8 8 Stslemenl of Cash Flows.
The financial statements are prepared in sterling. which is the functional Currency of the soaety. Monetsry
amounts in these finanaal statements are iounded to the nearest £.
The financial slalements have beèn prepared under the historical cost convention. The principal a¢counling
policies adopted are set out below.
1.2 Going concern
Al the lime of approving the financial stat&ments. the soryety has a reasonable expectation that the company
has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Thus the trustees
continue lo adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the financial statemènts.
1.3 Charitable funds
Unrestricted funds are avallable for use al the discretion of the trustees in furtherancè of their charitable
objectives.
Restricted funds ar9 svbje¢t lo specific conditions by donors as lo how they may be used. The purposes and
uses of the restricted fund$ are sel out in the notes lo the financial statements.

All income is recognised in the Statement of Finanetal activities once the souety has entitlement to the funds,
that it is probable that the income will be recanied and thè amount can be rnea5ured reliably.

Tangibl& fixèd asse15 are initialty measured at cost and subsequently moasurad al cost or valuation, nel of
depreciation and any impairment losses. All fixed assets have been fully depreciated.

In the application of the society's accounting poliaes, the trustees are required to make judgements, estimates
and assumptions about the carrying amount of assets and liabilities that are not readily apparent from othèr
sources. The estimates and associated assumptions are based on historical experience and other factors that
are considered lo be relevant. Actual results may drfler from these estimates.
The estimates and undertying assumpt'on$ aro reviewèd on an ongoing basis. Revisions lo a¢¢ounling
estimates are recognised in the pèriod in which the estimate is revised where th¢ rewsion affects only that
