out in the Constitution, are to educate the public in the arts and saences, and in particular the art and science of
muslc, by the presentatlon of concerts and other actlvltles.
The members of the CommSttee during the year were:
Nikky Shergold Ichèirl, Gill Douglas Ivice-chairl, Shirley Elliott (Hon. Secretary), Sue Silcock IHon. Treasurer), Mary
James, Emma Reed. Andrew Gummer, Ruth Scott, Nick Symondson. Val Fagan
Review of the yearfs activities..
May 2020 saw the choir well into the first Cowd lockdown of the year. Having detided to cancel the summer concert,
any attempt at choir rehearsal even Via Zoom was put on hold. The soclal committee for the choir then went into
actlon and suggested producing a choir cookb¢)ok. This was initially intended to maintain cholr contacts but was so
well supported that It became a fiJndraLslng projett. When the book was publlshed, It was sold to approving cholr
members In time for Christmas. (fverall. sales were sufficientty buoyant to enable the cholrto donate £5￿ each to
two charlties Imindsong and Cheltenham Open tyoorl. as well as l)olster the cholrfunds.
When the autumn term came, the committee debated ways that the choir could get back to singing together and
pored over rlsk assessments and g¢￿ernmeftt guideline5, 5aentific papers. and newspaper articles. In September
and October, the choir made their first forays into Zoom ￿hearSalS with David Crown and Christine Cairns. As the
attuality of achieving face to fa￿ rehearsals once more re￿ded durin8 NovtsNnber and December. the choir engaged
David Wynne. a choral conductor in Blm)ingham, who had been running Zoom rehearsa15 for his three choirs since
the beginning of lockdown. His command of the technical wizardry needed as well as his musical ability and sense of
humour kept the choir going during the dark winter months. The choir even managed two"virtual" perforniances
wearing concert dress; one at Christmas and one of the Mozart Requiem which had been rehearsed durlng the
spring terni.
Covid restrictions were easSng slowly after Easter 2021 and the choir started to make plans for face-to-face
rehearsals. Our regular conductor, David Crown, started by running Zoom rehearsals in April and early May and then
the choir found a large barn owned by the Cotswold Ridingfor the Disabled and we set up face to face rehearsals In
the bam with the choir in two sittings. It was great to be able to sing together again and 98 member5 of the choir
took part in most of the rehearsa15. The planned summer con￿rt In TewkesburyAbbey was cantelled due to Covid

restrictions, but we held a final concert version of the repertoire we had rehearsed in the barn and broke for the
summer break in a theerful frameofmind.
Finances..
The attached financial statements show the current stste of the choirfs finan￿$. The d￿1r achieved a surplus of
general income over expenditure of just under £17.5(LJ. This is due in the main to the generosity of members who
continued to pay their subscriptions even though the benefits were not as might have been expected.
There was a small deficit In the concert programme of just over £IOCM) as the choir felt that some recompense wa5
due to the orchestra and sololsts for the canolled but planned summer concert.
Overall, the choir has made a pmfit of lust over £16,W). The tommittee are mindful of thrs and will fattor th15 Into
our planned programme for the future. The choirfs total available assets on 30, April 2021 were £28,931 In the
unrestricted General Fund, £30,467 In the Cedric Vir8in Fund and £12.623 in Caroline's Fund.
