# **MALMESBURY LEAGUE OF FRIENDS Registered Charity No 261801** # **ANNUAL REPORT AND ACCOUNTS Year ending 31 December 2025** **MALMESBURY LEAGUE OF FRIENDS** ## **Annual Report for the year ending 31 December 2025** The Malmesbury League of Friends is a charity registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (Registered charity no 261801). The Governing Instrument is the present Constitution, which complies with the requirements of the Charity Commission and was adopted on 17 May 2007. The registered address is that of the Treasurer: Mrs Dawn Halsey, The Coach House, Foxley Road, Malmesbury SN16 0JQ. New trustees are appointed on a renewable term of three years. The trustees’ policy is generally to make grants to the NHS Trusts for the provision of extra comforts, initiatives and extra facilities for use in the local area by patients served by the above agencies. The charity’s income is made up of members’ subscriptions, donations, legacies and interest from investments. Major fundraising has only ever been undertaken, in the past, for large building projects. The trustees have had regard for the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit. ## **Finance** Receipts and payments accounts have been prepared for the year. Income, in the main, has been from investments. A list of donations is included in this report. 1 **MALMESBURY LEAGUE OF FRIENDS** ## **Chairman’s Report for the year ending 31 December 2025** During 2025 the Malmesbury League of Friends (MLOF) have continued in their mission to support health-based causes, local to Malmesbury, in line with the constitution. We have made donations totalling £143,578, a full list of which can be found in this report. ## **Investment Portfolio Performance** The MLOF investment portfolio is what enables us to make donations to charitable causes and is therefore essential to achieving our objectives. The portfolio continues to be managed by Charles Stanley and has enabled us to make donations of £143,578, while our overall assets have decreased by only £5,049. See opening and closing balances below; these are made up of the investment portfolio and cash held in the bank. Balance at start of the year £1,548,277 Balance at end of year £1,543,228 ## **Trustees** Membership of the board of trustees has remained static during 2025, enabling us to have constructive, open and honest discussions and ensure our approach to decisions is consistent. It is anticipated that, as we progress our plans to form closer working relationships with charities we regularly support and to improve and professionalise our PR and administration in 2026, we will need to increase our numbers to accommodate the increased workload this will create. We currently have 9 trustees and our constitution allows for 12, so we have space to increase our number of trustees by 3. ## **Donations** Throughout 2025 MLOF continued to make donations to a mixture of both large and small organisations and individuals in need, please see split of donations below. Large Charities / Organisations: £90,500 Small Charities / Organisations: £42,853 Local Individuals: £10,225 Notable donations to organisations include: St Aldhelm’s Church Hall: £20,000 Julia’s House: £10,000 Lea & Garsdon School: £8,516 In addition to the donations above MLOF also agreed donations of £30,000 towards the purchase of land at Daniel’s Well Farm and £9,000 to Malmesbury School for the purchase of a new minibus. These donations will be paid during 2026. We also continued to support the provision of defibrillators both in Malmesbury and surrounding villages. ## **Conclusion** The support we have provided throughout the year, as described above, is only possible thanks to the income provided by a substantial investment portfolio that is professionally managed by Charles Stanley. I would like to thank our treasurer, Dawn Halsey, for her dedication and professionalism in the ongoing management of our finances.
