The financial ststements have been axamined in accordance with the Gert¢ral
Dire¢tions given by the Charity Comrnissioners.

B¢cause of the level of income received by the charity an audit is not required by the
Charities Act 1993 but an independent examination is necessary.
Basis of independent cxamin¢r's report
I have carried out an ￿aMination in accordance with the Genernl Directions given by
the Charity Commissioners. The examination includes a review of evidence relevant
to the amounts and disclosures in the finaDciai statements. It also includes an
assessment of whether the accounting policies are appropriate to the charity's
circumstance& consistently applied and ad4ua*ly disclosed.
In carrying out the axamination all the infonnation and explanations which are
considered necessary in order to provide sufficient evidence io give re&￿nable
assurance that the financial swements are frtt from Material misstatement have been
provided.

In connection with my examination of the accounts for the year ended 5 April 2023,
no matter has come to my attention which gives rne wse to believe that compliance
with the requ1￿MentS of the Charities Act 1993 has not met and that the
accounts do refiect th¢ charity's state of affairs for the accounting period.

the year ended 5 April 2023. The financial statements have t*en prepared in
accordance with the accounting w>licies set out on final pag¢ and comply with th¢
applicable law.
Cons¢itstion and objects
The Alexander Pigott Wernher Memorial Trust is constituted by the Will of the l*¢
Right Ilonourdble Alice Sedgwick BaroDess Ludlow dated 2 January 1946 and is a
registered charity. number 261362.
The obj¢¢ts of the charity laid down in the Will are to provide funds to assist in
research iowards ihe prevention and cure of blindness and deafness.
Grnnt making poli
The charity receives applications from the various Institutions including other
charities for donations to assist with funding research projects. These are reviewed
against the specific criteria ofthe resCa￿h objectives set out in the Will.
Donations be made towards research fellowship& relevant research projects
including the purchase of equipment for use with research inio the prevention or cure
of eye and hearing disorders.
Reviews of the funds available for donations are carried out during the year and
before the end of each accounling period. During the year ended 5 April 2023. the
Trustees made £47,667 donations from surplus fvnd
Investment pollcy
The charity follows a prudent poliq of maintaining investments which provide
regular annual income to fund donation
