The Charity is administered by a council, comprising: - President: Dr Vivian Roberts - Secretary: Dr Colin Pope - Treasurer: Mr Nigel Locke Other members: Mr Jim Baldwin, Mr Paul Bingham, Mr Al Blenkinsop, Mr David Bone, Mrs Selena Bone, Mr Jonathan Cox, Mrs Toni Goodley, Miss Lily Gray, Miss Jacqueline Hart, Dr Roger Herbert, Mrs Margaret Nelmes, Mr Trevor Price, Dr Anthony Roberts, Mr Richard Smout, Mr Dave Staughton, Mr Will Thurbin, Mrs Ann Ticehurst and Mr Dave Trevan. New council members are elected at the Annual General Meeting. The objects of the Charity are to promote, for the benefit of the public, the study of natural history, geology and archaeology especially in relation to the Isle of Wight and to promote the preservation of all objects of special archaeological and geological interest. We have held a full programme of events this year, including nine general meetings and 61 other meetings. In addition, the archaeological section has held informal meetings on Wednesdays through the year. A Recorders’ Conference was held in November which was open to anyone who has an active interest in recording the Island's flora and fauna. The Society had a display at Wolverton Manor Garden Fair at the beginning of September. The iWatch Wildlife project holds events during the year to encourage young people and their families to observe wildlife on the Isle of Wight. The Society and iWatch joined the National Trust at Dunsbury for a day of recording all species present at a Bioblitz, one Saturday in June. We have taken on the responsibility for recording all appropriate records on the MapMate database for the Isle of Wight Council. The overall aim is to provide a central point of contact for information required to further scientific study. A visual records section has been setup so that digital photographs of natural history, archaeology and geology of the Isle of Wight, may be recorded with the provenance and stored for future reference. I report in respect on my examination of the Society's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act ## INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S STATEMENT I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Society as required by section 130 of the Act; or 2. the accounts do not accord with those records; I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
