The Friends run two shop5 on sile. There is also a mobile irolley round which stocks mainlv confectionery
and soft drinks and visits a ranbje of wards across the hospiial siie. Goods are sold io paiienis. siafi'and
visitor5 al a profit which is used io purchase the items requesied by the l)ospitsl l-rustees. l-o date. niore
than £1.2 niillion has been donated to the hospital to purch&se eqiiipment and iniproi'e condiiions and
comfort of the patients whilst in hospital and lo improve the facilili¢5 for relative5 ￿h0 for various reasons
stay the nib>hi by their relatii'es, bedsides. Addiiionall).. Ihe Friends run a library Irollev service where
pati¢n¢s can borrom. and ¢xchangJc book5 fr￿ of charLJ¢. Again. a rnng¢ of wards arc visitcd across the
hospital site.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PF.RFORMANCE
Chairperson's report
l am very pleased to report that 2025 has ￿ another very successful year for the Friends, with a healthy
income being generated by our shop5 and trolley 5ervice5. We are ver). pmud to have again bcen abl¢
exceed £ IUO.UOO in donations to ihe TTUSt this vear- £101.727 (2024: £111.7061- which together with last
year'5 recoTd-breaking donation exceeds £200.1￿)0 . . quite an achiei'ement over tw'o year5.
The fundinbw this >'ear ha5 inLluded a &¥ift to the Dandelion Appeal of £25.000 io fund flve rooms whiLh are
dedicated as 'end of life rooms
to give palients and relatives prI￿ac￿. in a Iranquil Setting. The rooms
are sited on each Care of the Elderly ward as well as Ihe Simke ward wi(h appropriate d￿or chosen using
soft colours.-I'here are recliner chairs and soft fumishings gi￿.ing an element of physical comfort for
relatives to be able to rest alongside (heir loved one. Most importantl>' Ihe space will provide a calm and
safe environment for both the kyaiieni and relaiives to be iogeiher at such an important time.
