## **Structure, governance and management**
The Former King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry Regimental Association was established under a scheme document dated 10th March 2010.
The Trustees are appointed by the Trustees at a special meeting in accordance with clause 10.

## **Objectives and activities**
The main objectives of the Charity are set out in Clause 4 of the Scheme document and are:
(1) to promote the efficiency of the Regiment in such charitable ways as the trustees may decide in particular but not exclusively by:
(a) maintaining contact between serving and former members of the Regiment and former members of the former Regiments, fostering mutual friendship and providing for social gatherings for them;
(b) fostering esprit de corps, comradeship and the welfare of the Regiment and preserving the traditions of the Regiment and the former Regiments;
(c) maintaining and preserving the chapels, memorials, property and colours of the former Regiments;
(2) to commemorate and remember those members, or former members, of the Armed Forces of the Crown who have lost their lives or suffered injury, or put themselves at risk of loss of life or injury, in service to the public;
(3) to relieve members and former members of the Regiment of former members of the former Regiments and the dependants of such person who are in need by virtue of financial hardship, sickness, disability or old age by:
- (a) making grants of money to them; or
- (b) providing or paying for goods, services or facilities for them; or
(c) making grants of money to other persons or bodies who provide grants, goods , services or facilities to those in need;
(4) to make grants in support of the charitable activities of units or detachments of the Army Cadet Force or the Combined Cadet Force affiliated to The Regiment.
The trustees confirm that they have referred to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit when reviewing the Trust's aims and objectives, in planning future activities, and setting the grant making policy for the year.
## **Achievements and performance**
The Charity has continued to follow the objectives set out in Clause 4.
In accordance with the scheme, the trustees have made grants, gifts and donations during the period amounting to £18,358 (2023 - £28,718).
## **Financial review**
The Charity generated income of £3,597 (2023 - £10,375) during the period with expenditure amounting to £26,157 (2023 - £40,515).
Net gains on investment revaluations and disposals amounted to £61,530 (2022 - £25,389).
It is the policy of the Charity to maintain sufficient unrestricted funds to cover administrative and support costs.
Unrestricted funds were maintained at a satisfactory level throughout the period and amounted to £601,563 as at 30th September 2024 (30th September 2023 - £562,593).

It is the intention of the Charity to continue with the objectives set out in Clause 4.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the financial statements of The Former King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry Regimental Association ('the charity') for the year ended 30th September 2024.
## **Responsibilities and basis of report**
As the trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the charity's financial statements carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
## **Independent examiner's statement**
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or
2. the financial statements do not accord with those records; or
3. the financial statements do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair' view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
