## **Notes to the accounts**

The insurance value of the hire instruments owned by the society was £133973 on 11/02/2020 The hire scheme commission due for 2020 is £2159.

Repairs and maintenance to hire instruments costing £3071.50, carried out in 2019, were not invoiced until 2020. The repairs carried out in 2020 have all been paid for in 2020.

The Joy Dodson Music Fund is a designated fund. This means that the money is earmarked to be spent on bursaries. It was previously a restricted fund but the original legacy has now been exhausted.

Deposits for the hire scheme are refundable and so are not the Society's money. For that reason they are shown separately.

£1450 of the deposits are for viols currently on hire. The balance is old deposits that have never been returned. Over £2000 was received in 2018 or earlier years and the identity of the hirer cannot be identified for £1200. The committee has decided to transfer £2000 of unclaimed deposits to the General Fund. If these hirers request a refund in future, it will be made from the General Fund.

## **Independent Examiner's Statement for accounts to 31 December 2020**

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention: (a) which gives me cause to believe that, in any material respect, the general requirements to keep accounting in accordance with UK accounting principles have not been met, and (b) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
