Thetrusteespresenttheirreportwiththefinancialstatementsofthecharityfortheyear ended
31December2023.ThetrusteeshaveadoptedtheprovisionsofAccountingandReportingby Charities:
StatementofRecommendedPracticeapplicabletocharitiespreparingtheiraccountsin accordancewith the
Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Public benefit

1)Provideaplatformforthepromotionandcommunicationofresearchandeducationtoallstaff groups
working in head and neck cancer.
2) Provide funding for research and education through research and travel grant awards.
3)Encourageandpromotediversitytoallmembersoftheheadandneckcancerteamandensurewe are
meeting the needs of all patients with the disease.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE

Charitable activities

Thecouncilhasbeenseekingnewopportunitiestofinanciallyinvestinprojectsthatwillserve our
membership- this has includedthe proposednew NationalAudit.An increasedtravelGrantwas awarded to
enableamembertoundertakea12-monthfellowshipinreconstructivemicrosurgeryanda substantial
Research Grant was awarded.

FUTURE PLANS

Aflourishingmembership,successfulannualconferenceandsavingsfromreducedcouncilmeeting travel
costs,hasensuredBAHNOisfinanciallyverystable.Wehaveincreasedthesizeofourannualconference by
changingthevenueandhavestrengthenedourpositionandpolicyonequalityanddiversity.We are
increasingthenumberofshorttermUKfellowshipsandaredevelopingourofferingtotraineesand allied
health professionals to improve membership in this sector.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

charity.

Risk management

Thetrusteeshaveadutytoidentifyandreviewtheriskstowhichthecharityisexposedandto ensure

(the Trust) for the year ended 31 December 2023.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charitytrusteesof the Trust you are responsiblefor the preparationof the accountsin accordance with
the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').
I reportin respectofmyexaminationoftheTrust'saccountscarriedoutunderSection145oftheActand in
carryingoutmyexaminationI havefollowedall applicableDirectionsgivenby the CharityCommission under
Section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner's statement

Ihavecompletedmyexamination.Iconfirmthatnomaterialmattershavecometomyattention in
connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by Section 130 of the Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or

3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

Ihavenoconcernsandhavecomeacrossnoothermattersinconnectionwiththeexaminationto which

1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES

Basis of preparing the financial statements

Thefinancialstatementsofthecharity,whichisapublicbenefitentityunderFRS102,have been
preparedinaccordancewiththeCharitiesSORP(FRS102)'AccountingandReportingby Charities:
StatementofRecommendedPracticeapplicabletocharitiespreparingtheiraccountsin accordance
withthe FinancialReportingStandardapplicablein the UK and Republicof Ireland(FRS102) (effective
1 January2019)',FinancialReportingStandard102'TheFinancialReportingStandardapplicablein the
UKandRepublicofIreland'andtheCharitiesAct2011.Thefinancialstatementshavebeen prepared
under the historical cost convention.

Income

All incomeis recognisedin the Statementof FinancialActivitiesonce the charityhas entitlementto the
funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.

Expenditure

Liabilitiesarerecognisedasexpenditureassoonasthereisalegalorconstructive obligation
committingthecharitytothatexpenditure,itisprobablethatatransferofeconomicbenefitswill be
requiredinsettlementandtheamountoftheobligationcanbemeasuredreliably.Expenditure is
accountedforonanaccrualsbasisandhasbeenclassifiedunderheadingsthataggregateall cost
relatedtothecategory.Wherecostscannotbedirectlyattributedtoparticularheadingsthey have
been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources.
Grantsofferedsubjecttoconditionswhichhavenotbeenmetattheyearenddatearenotedas a
commitment but not accrued as expenditure.

Tangible fixed assets

Depreciationisprovidedatthefollowingannualratesinordertowriteoffeachassetover its
estimated useful life.
Computer equipment- 25% on reducing balance

Stocks

Stocksarevaluedatthelowerofcostandnetrealisablevalue,aftermakingdueallowance for
obsolete and slow moving items.

Taxation

The charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activities.

Fund accounting

Unrestrictedfundscanbeusedinaccordancewiththecharitableobjectivesatthediscretionof the
trustees.
Restrictedfundscanonlybeusedforparticularrestrictedpurposeswithintheobjectsofthe charity.
Restrictionsarisewhenspecifiedbythedonororwhenfundsareraisedforparticular restricted
purposes.
