**Objects:** THE INCOME SHALL BE APPLIED BY THE COUNCIL IN SUPPLEMENTING THE WORK OF THE ARCHIVES SERVICE BY CARRYING ON ACTIVITIES FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT ADDITIONAL TO THE WORK WHICH THE ARCHIVES SERVICE WOULD NORMALLY CARRY OUT AND WHICH THE COUNCIL WOULD NORMALLY DEFRAY OUT OF ITS INCOME FROM RATES OR OTHER SOURCES UNDER THE POWERS VESTED IN IT BY THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT (RECORDS) ACT 1962 OR OTHER POWERS.

**Activities:** The Trust works to support the promotion of archives,archival research and publications within and for the former historic County of Westmorland (now part of Cumbria County Council since 1974) over and above the provision made by Cumbria County Council.
