Friends of Brooklands School 255861 Annual Report and Accounts from 1st August 2023-31st July 2024
Friends of Brooklands School (FOBS) is a charity directly linked to Brooklands School in Reigate, Surrey. Brooklands School expanded in 2020 and now has two sites, with the original site at Wray Park Road for children with severe learning difficulties and complex needs, and a new site at Alexander Road for children with complex social and communication needs. FOBS raises funds to enhance the lives of the children at the school, providing specialist equipment and resources to help the children reach their potential.
FOBS does not deal directly with the children and follows all of Brooklands School's own policies when interacting directly with the children and therefore does not need, or have, its own child protection or other safeguarding policies in place.
We have no funds in reserve and all monies are in the general account. This year we have raised our funds through a cake sale, a non-uniform day quiz night and a Christmas raffle. We also raised some money from external events such as the Christmas tree recycling scheme, running events and donations from individuals and local businesses that are friends and families of the school. Kingwood Golf Club has named us as their charity for their financial year and we have received donations from events held by them. We have received a grant from Tesco through their Strong Start scheme.
The funds we raised this year went resources such as rockers, paddling pools and trampoline steps. The remaining funds will also be used to buy a canopy for the Alexander Road site to enable our children to enjoy the outside areas year-round. FOBS has also agreed to help fund AAC devices so that each class will have access to a device. FOBS has also been asked to raise funds for a garden room at each site. These will be used as break out areas and quiet learning areas for pupils. Funds raised in this year as well as the next will help to pay for these.
FOBS do not pay any salaries and the trustees do not receive any benefits other than refunds of directly attributable expenses.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Friends of Brooklands School I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Friends of Brooklands School (the Trust) for the year ended 31 July 2024. Responsibilities and basis of report As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act,).
