**Objects:** A SCHOLARSHIP FOR RESEARCH IN TROPICAL MEDICINE AND A SCHOLARSHIP FOR RESEARCH IN TROPICAL SURGERY TO BE AWARDED IN ROTATION AND EACH TO BE OF THE ANNUAL VALUE OF NOT LESS THAN ú1,750 BUT SO THAT 1) EACH SCHOLARSHIP MAY BE RENEWED FOR A SECOND YEAR AND A THIRD YEAR AT THE DISCRETION OF THE TRUSTEES OF THE ABOVE-MENTIONED CHARITY. 2) THE OTHER SCHOLARSHIP SHALL NEXT BE AWARDED TO TAKE EFFECT ONLY AFTER THE DETERMINATION OF SUCH RENEWAL (IF ANY).

**Activities:** Provides scholarships in tropical medicine and tropical surgery. The scholarships are advertised, and applied for, giving details of the applicant and the proposed project. The trustees review the applications and determine the best candidates to be awarded grants. At the trustees' discretion, scholarships can be awarded either every year, or in alternate years, as they see fit.
