and outpatient Waiti￿ areos (Jro￿￿ the hospital. but due to declinirg numbers of
volunteers had to discontiNe the service in Alarch 2024.
The current year has seen further improvement in the tirrn>ver in the three outlets
that have operated throughout the year. The Shop. Bookshop aNI Look In shop. The
surplus and hrnover in these three outlets exceeded comF￿rable wfornwnce
for the l¢tsf full year pre-covid 2019/20 in both of the last two tradin9 years. This is
encouragiry. but the loss of the Radiotherapy Tea Bar on a perffwnt bosis is a blow
as pre-covid this contributed ann￿1 sirylu*S in excess of £20k per annum.
All the operatirvj outlets were risk assessed to ensire we could operate safely within
the Government guidelines.
Our total sales improved ¢M the previous year to £92.131 (2023 £79.329) the Look

be a good PerfOrn￿nCe in the circumstances.
The grants approved by the Fund to dePartTh￿s at Mount VerrN Hospital in the
year were £51,036. This re￿Ited in a pl￿11￿ of commitments at the year-end of
£32.697 (£35561 in 2023).
The outlook for ow operations remains ￿ltive and the Tnjstees *K￿ld like to thank
all our volunteers for their tireless efforts arKt loyalty. The Charity is confident that

it continues to hove a useful future at Mount Vernon Hospital.
Flnanclal revlew
The activities of the fund continue to improve with Soles Turnover up by 16% on the
year at £92,131 (2023 £79,328) and Surplus from Trading activities up by 1070 on
the year at £57,120 (2023 £52.079). This was a si9nificant achievement with a
surplus before grants of £60.768 (2023 £53.693).
Amounts requested by the Hospital staff durin9 the year led to gross awards of
£51,036 although after Cfmcellations of prior year awards that lapsed this became
net awards of £22.456 expensed in the year and outsttThdin9 commitments at the
year-end of £32.697 (2023 £35.561) beirg approved for investment in new
P4uipment and facilities.
The overall impact of these activities was a surplus on the Statement of Financial
Activities for the year of £38.312 (2023 £72,9TI) reflectin9 a solid underlying
f ir￿ncIal performance. The Trustees continue to work constructively with the
Hospital authorities to identify opportunities to invest in improvin9 the facilities on
the Mount Vernon Hospital site.
Pollcy on reserves
The Fund's policy on reserves is to retain sufficient working capital to operate its
activities efficientty and meet its on90in9 obligations in the ￿ent of unforeseeable
interruption to its activities. In current circumstances it is considered this could be
met by the retention of £50.000 in occumulated unrestricted reserves. Our reserves
comfortably exceed our minimum requirement and places the Fund in a stron9 Posltion
to weather the headwinds facing the UK economy.
Trustee Board
The Trustee Board has been stable through the year with no char¢Jes in the 8oard
compositio
