Trustees Report

Trustees Report 2025

After a lot of hard work we were once again successful in obtaining another 3 year continuation grant from The National Lottery. This welcome additional boost to our charity is giving the trustees and our small part -time staff team the opportunity to continue our services, have a positive effect on our growing community and expand our offer to everyone affected by Spina Bifida, Hydrocephalus and related conditions, who live in the Sheffield postal district and surrounding areas.

Funding opportunities have continued with welcome small grants from local organisations, such as Harry Bottom trust. There have been several legacy donations and funding from Pay Pal, just giving and other giving sites.

We also gained 2 more trustees with lived experience of Spina bifida and/or Hydrocephalus based in the Sheffield postal district and beyond in South Yorkshire, Zanib and Elissia. They have brought with them knowledge of different care support strategies and an understanding of the challenges of these conditions.

Our trustees which governs the direction of the charity, is made up from people from our own community, we are able to draw on experience of our trustees who have a wide range of experience across the health and charity sectors. Our next task is to recruit trustees to represent wellbeing and business communities to develop our offer to our beneficiaries.

Volunteering is time well spent and our membership enjoy volunteering with and getting to know volunteers from the Sheffield universities.

We also have members particular teenagers who volunteer as befriending and event support, which is a great volunteering and accessible work experience, providing positive role models for our members.
