Trustees Report

Trustees Report 2024

We nearing the end of our 3 year National Lottery Reaching Communities grant and we have secured a Postcode lottery grant. Now we are in the process of applying for another National Lottery grant so we can continue our offer to everyone affected by spina bifida, hydrocephalus and related conditions, who live in the Sheffield postal district. Our services and reach has continued to develop and grow, this has a positive effect on our growing community. We celebrated our sixtieth anniversary earlier this year which was attended by over 200 members, families and friends, it was a wonderful day.

Funding opportunities have continued with several legacy donations and funding from Pay Pal, Just Giving and other giving sites. We have had a staff and trustees continue to run marathons and complete challenges to raise funds for us.

In 2023 we welcomed Michelle as our chair of trustees, replacing Brian Rawson, who due to personal reasons stepped down. Michelle has experience, knowledge and understanding of the needs of our membership as she has 20+ years experience as a former chair/ trustee for the organisation.

Volunteering is time well spent and our membership enjoy volunteering with and getting to know our team of volunteers from Sheffield and Hallam universities.

Our trustees which governs the direction of the charity, is made up from people from our own community, we have members particular teenagers who have volunteered as befriended and event support, which is a great volunteering and accessible work experience, providing positive rope models for our members.
