Activities for the year 2023/24

Organisations catering for everyone from the very young to the elderly regularly use the Social Centre. The Centre hosts a Warm and Toastie club for the elderly, Ballroom Dancing, mini athletics, Spectrum Majorettes, Essex Wildlife Trust meetings, Womens’ Guild, Move to Lose fitness classes. Bookings are also received for one-off events such as wedding receptions and birthday parties. A monthly dance raises much needed funds for the Centre as well as providing a social activity for residents, creating long lasting friendships.

We were delighted to receive a grant this year from Awards for All which enabled us to replace the heating system. The wi-fi also installed at the hall this year, enables the heating to be controlled remotely to suit users and to help with the bills. Smart meters were also fitted and the committee continues to ensure that the building is well maintained for its users.

Accounts for the year 2023/24

Unrestricted funds show a surplus of £1,996.45 this year (2022/23 surplus of £2,936.45). Letting income of £19741.00 is slightly up on the previous year (2022/23 £19,053.75). Net income from fundraising contributed £1,226.05 compared to £983.49 in 2022/23. Most costs, other than repairs and maintenance, are up slightly on last year but not significantly so. The new heating system cost £21,421.00, of which £18,661.00 was covered by a restricted fund grant.

.

Reserves

At the end of the year, unrestricted reserves of £31,434.35 were held, which is sufficient for almost 2 years running costs.
