Looking back across the year I think the achievements highlighted in thi5 report show very clearly the importanl impact we made for beneficiaries throughout the cfisis. induding. our work with young people whose education ha5 been d￿Srupted. isolated older people. care-providers and young-carers. people with disabilities, minority communities. looked-after children and young people. and people experiencing racism and hate crime. The pandemic has meant that whilst the New Vicwas able to take some ofour artistic and community engagement work online with virtual screenings and Workshops. and ouldoors onto high streets and into gardens and parks, the theatre's income from its activities over the year has been drastically reduced due to long periods of enforced closure. 11 has certainly been a challenge but we have been grateful for the support ol our donors, with individual giving increasing during the year, and to larger supporters such as Arts Council England. for their quick and vital responses to Ihe crisis. There was a lot ol applause. dancing and positivity from iesidents. with some saying that Ihis was 'just what they needed. during this drficult time. It's Not as Simplè as Black and Whltè Kickstarting a larger programme of work. New Vic Borderlines worked with nearty 500 young people from the Ruskin CommLJnity High School in Crewe, to explore what facism is. where il happens and hDW we can tackle it. The work was part of the"Il's Not as Simple as Black and White" project funded by the govemment's Ministry for Housing Communities and Local Government tackling Falth and Ra￿ hate crime. We teamed up wth Port Vale Foundation Trust atKI Sporting Communibes CIC ID deliver an exciting project that used creativity. football and sport to understand vthy hate exists. The young peop5e engaged in some greal conversations around the subject and the groups got the chance to created their own football ¢hanls. posters and videos. as well a5 leaming how to bealbox and create raps tackling themes around hate.
