The church during Interregnum

No new Vicar appointment this year, the church continues under the guidance of the Archdeacon Karen Lund and the Area Dean Nick Watson.

In January Sunday Services continued on Zoom. In February, March & April Sunday Services alternated weekly between Zoom and in the Church. Following the relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions in May Services were held in the church every Sunday mostly led by members of the congregation.

The Rectory became empty following the departure of Mrs Boulter. The Rector of Ascension Church Hulme and his family will be moving in next year. All responsibility for the upkeep is now the responsibility of the Diocese and PCC of Ascension Church.

Two funerals took place.
Finance Report

The Annual Accounts for 2021 have been prepared by John Adams and submitted to the APCM for approval. The Independent Examiner was Mrs Angela Bailey.

All utility bills are paid up to date

Fund raising improved, in May HB Nursery opened fully, Ethiopian Congregation returned & Drummers started to rehearse again on Monday evening. Yoga classes started on Tuesday evening. A Summer Fair was held outside.

In October Open Voice Choir returned but temporally without Carol Donaldson and AA Group restarted. Both these groups were financially supported in 2021 by St Margaret’s.
Building Report

New double glazing windows installed in the Church Hall (leased to Honeybears Childrens Nursery)

Repairs to one window in memorial Chapel and kitchen door completed

More work was done on trying to make the tower/spire rain-proof and pigeon free. Some improvement but more work is needed.

2 new gas heaters installed in church

Electrical wiring replaced between church and hall

Some decluttering has happened in the church but it is an on-going task.

Collections at services (box 3) include £2,205 of late receipts mainly given in 2020, but only collected and paid into the church bank account in 2021 due to Covid-19 and ill health. There are
E two unexplained receipts from the Manchester diocese paid into the church bank account in December (box 13). There is one unexplained payment from the church bank account in April (box
99). The payments/expenditure do not include a liability of £5,271 for outstanding invoices which were paid in 2022.
