Friends of RCH Chairman's 2025 Annual Report
Firstly, on behalf of us ￿ I would I￿ to thank Beatrice for all the years of devot￿ and hard wod( that
she gave to The Friends as she was our Chwr for 20% of the time that The Friends have existed as a charity. We
had a wondetm celebration 14y her in November. with a meal at Trevaskis Farm. where we presented her with a
cake, a beade(I bee, a rose named Queen Bee, and a voucher lor the Hall lor Comwall. Beatrice was also
presented wi+h a beautilul piece ot gl&ss by tr.e Board ol RCH as thanks for her contritmjtion to. and support for.
the Voluntary SeNices al the TTUSt over the years.
It was very fitting that we celebrated 80 years ol Ihe Friends Charity al the end of Juty with a cream tea. more
cake, and enlertainment by a talented k)cal duo. Twin Harmony. I musl thank various Tru*ees for their hard work
in organisiThJ it all, and to Beatrice and other InAste8s for puttitvJ together a wtted 80-yeaY history ol the charity,
which was on dwlay with a number ol p￿1(￿J[￿s. Even our ProsM16nl h81p￿ to serv6 averyom on tho dayl Tho
Trust had a camellia planted on the RCH srte in ￿nOUr. which has recenty been in bknom.
During 2025 we received many genero￿8 thnatiw wh￿h are atrways Gfft A￿ed. This year these donations
induded a of wool; some has been haThYed over to the volunteers who knit or eroehet squaTe$ lor palliative care
patient blankets. and lor making tWKldSe muffs and we thank eVeryc￿e lor their generosty ol time in creating
these. The excess has l)een sohy, mth"ThJ £5CKI lo dale. We also thank all those who contribute to OLFr collection
boxes, leave1&3acies, or raise lunds by buy#Yd orlin8 through Easy Fun(traisiNJ.
Our lund-raising a¢tivili68 last year irKkKlod Sal88 of Cream Teas and Mince Pie boxes, and an evening with
¢om8dian Johnny Cowling. However, our main income still rx)mes from lh8 Friends CoffA& Bar, a8 well a8 the
IAobilg frolby Shop whith now serves the maprity of wards and is Lhy'ng Out tw￿8 daily on mo81 w86k days.
Howev6r tho$0, and othor s•M¢os. NKluding various relreshment areas and Tfelawny Reception, desperately

There have been changes in lh¢ VSO this year too, wth Richards. the Lead Chaplain. reliring in March, and
being repla¢od by Dom Whitting. who was the prewous Deputy Lead Chaplain. Then in Sepl8mber Ihe VSO
Manager, Verily Barker, relired and Ele Buckley is currentty lh8 interim VSO Manager. 11 has a rèal pleasure
to work 81ongslde Dom and Ele in their new roles. holdirvJ regular meebngs wrth them and their line managers.
On¢0 again, the Friends 9nsurgd Ihal a gfft wrapped Christmas present grft was delivered lo around 560 inpatients
on Christmas Day, which was cheerfuny received by many. We donated over t77,7¢)O ot linancial grants to
Gwithian Unil,. the Critical Care Unit,. Palliative and End ol L¢fe Care.. the Audiology Departrnenl.. Polkerris Wafd;
and provided smart new relreshmenl tro118ys lor every ward al RCPtr. Wg kokn'ng forward to hearing the
impact ol these vèry shortty.
We have worked on bringing the Charity's G(Yrfemance aspects up lo date, linalising a Memrandum ol
UndersiandirrfJ IMOUI betyveen oursefves and thè Trusi In NovèmDèT, wntsng our own Vdunteor Policy and
urialing our Conslitulion. We wouhj Iikt to thank David Wood, CEO, and Slephen Morelon, Trainir)g and
Deveknpment Lead. at ArrEND, were a geat suprth whilst wrthng Ihese documents. ArrEND are the
national organisalion to wthich all League of Friends subscribe. We also parti(apale in the Trust's Volunteers
Steoring Group.
We now need to offer all ol our volunteers ihe th￿ce lo become Mernbers of the Charity and, trj this end, have
PfodL￿ed an official IAemb8rship Form. Following GDPR r•gulalions, and having a Data Shariry Agreement in
place with Ihe Trust. we will be selhng up our own dalabase. which wrfl run alongside that held by th8 VSO. 8y
being a member you will be Official￿ entitled to come to cyjr AGMS and ary Extraordinary Gengral Mgetings in the
future. It also rnoans that we wnll be the to send you emails, or letters. about fvturg events ano ask it you are
wllllng lo lend a hand with these.

As the Charities Trustees, you are resFK)nsible for the preparation of the accounls you
consider that the audit requirements of section 144 of the Charities Acl 2011 (Ihe Act)
does not apply. It is my resp)nsibility to state, on the basis of procedures specified in
th¢ General Direclions given by the Charity Commissioners under Section 145(5) (b)
of the Act, whether particular matters have come to my altention.
BASIS OF INDEPENDENT EXAMINERS REPORT
My examination w&$ carried out in acconlance with the General Directions given by
Ihe Charily Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting
records kept by the Charity and a Comparison of the accounts presented with ihose
records. It also includes consideratlOD of any unusual items of disclosu￿ in the
accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees conc¢rning such matters. The
procedures undertaken do noi provide all the evidence that would be required by an
audit and consequently. I do not express an audit opinion on th¢ view given by ihe
accounts.
