AGM Pastor's report for period May 15, 2024- May 14, 2025
th
2024 was our I l year as pastors at Bethel Chapel and we have loved every
minute!
First, Mary and I want to thank all of the department heads and volunteers for
their continued hard work and faithfulness throughout the years; and as you will
see, 2024/25 has been no exception.
From the pastoral side of things. it has been another busy and fruitful year.
Maria's Mayoral inauguration on May 19 saw an attendance of152 people.
Congratulations to Maria who used every opportunity to include Bethel in her
role, to express her faith to the wider community.
To celebrate the 80 anniversary of WW2 Norniandy landings, the community
joined us for a Bethel Cream Tea to the sounds of Vera Lyn
On June I met with Redkey construction and David McKnight, architect to
begin the process of roof repairs. Our thanks for the waiving of David's fees.
A number of us attended 'Momentum' in Carmarthen to join with the wider
Baptist family, and throughout the year enjoyed a few international meals at
Bethel with our new international church family.
Foursquare future missionaries, Jessie and Debbie Mendoza joined us for l O
days in September, with a view to returning in approximately 18 months to
minister and settle in Wales.
We were thrilled to receive Foursquare Missionaries, Jeff and Colleen Richards
to begin a six- month period of ministry with us, and we had a great attendance
for the Alpha Course led by them from Sept 6 - 22, November)
It was also good to host a Missionary meal for them and the Mendozas, and
Nela Marsden, with Jonathan joining on zoom from hospital (Please pray for his
continued recovery)
Throughout the year, Mary and I continued to speak occasionally at other
Baptist churches who are without Pastors, and here at Bethel were grateful to
host Guest speakers (Tim Duthie, Paul Macken, Josh Fiddy, Chris Orr, Keith
Warrington, Jeremy Stone, Jeff, Colleen, Jesse Mendoza, Rob James.
We had our annual church away day at Fald Y Brenin, which is always
refreshing, as was our monthly evening communion services of
prayer/worship/waiting on the Lord and communion.
We began teaching Christian basics called 'Foundations' on Tuesday Momiiigs
in 2024, with various leaders including Mary and I, Jeff and Colleen, Ginnie
Billing and Lynn Orr. A number of people have taken advantage of this which
includes baptismal instruction. Throughout the year we celebrated 6 baptisms
including William, Mena, Ann, Liz, Samuel and Daniel.
Along with these we were also thrilled to receive Kat and Jordan into
membership.

In our missionary capacity, I continue to serve on the Foursquare GB Ministry
Board" on the Global Foursquare Doctrine advisory committee, and as National
Champion of DLT. We attended the FSQ GB Convention, FSQ missionary
retreat in Bratislava, and I attended DLT training in Croatia.
Through the PBA, Mary serves on the committee of Langton Trust, which
donates finances to ministries who are reaching out to childi.en and youth,
I am on the executive committee of the PBA with various meetings required.
A number of us from Bethel were blessed at the PBA Day on Sept 28 in
Bethlehem; again revealing to us that we are a part of a wider family.
On Nov 28 we attended the sad occasion of Carl Smith's funeral at Westgate
church, and also said goodbye to Brian Thomas (March 25) this year, and to
Ann Barnes and Margaret Thomas. Our prayers continue for their families.
During the Christmas season of 2024 we joined with the national initiative
'Shine your light,, through public Carol singing, scripture reading and testimony
outside Asda in Pembroke Dock and our Annual Candlelit Carol Service; was
attended by more than l 00 people from our community.
We began 2025 with corporate Prayer and fasting for 21 days, and then on
March 1, 2025 were blessed to see Jeff and Colleen Richards be inducted as
pastors of Johnston Baptist Church,
On Sunday March 2nd we celebrated St David's day at Bethel with a civic
service in English and some Welsh. A few Pembrokeshire dignitaries accepted
Christ that morning.
On Good Friday we co-hosted with St John's, the march of witness with more
than 100 in attendance, and at the request of the Town Council, organised a
tn
Songs of Praise at memorial Park, to celebrate its 10 Ar￿1Versary.
Each Wednesday evening throughout the year we have continued with our
Hybrid worship and Bible studies, working through the Gospel of Mark, and
beginning a series through Ephesians.
Once a month our Men's Breakfast draws an average of 15-20 men from Bethel
and the wider church community, where worship and the Word encourage
inspiring discussion after a heaty breakfast cooked by Barry and others in the
fonn of Banjo's; a full breakfast inside a bun!
It is a joy to lead a wonderful church like Bethel, and even though we have seen
a sure and steady growth in all areas, it is our firm belief that, "The Best is Yet
to Come!??

that I will pour out my Spirit on all mankind; and
your sons and daughters will prophecy, Your old
men will dream dreams, your young men will see
visions, and even on the male and female
servants I will pour out my Spirit in those days."
Since our last AGM in 2024 we had various
meetings alternating between Afternoon teas and
evening meetings with snacks concentrating on
praying for each other and hearingthe Word of the
Lord. Since we had a very busy Christmas
schedule in Bethel I decided to do a New Year's
rd
Evening Meal on January3 . Many ofthe ladies
enjoyed a nice meal, with the Christmas Décor
still up and we had verygood fellowship and food
and fun along with Praying for each other. In
February and March we had our usual Afternoon
Tea and an Evening meeting. In Aprilwe had our
th
annualwomen's Retreat on Saturdaythe 12 with
over 10 Baptist Churches taking part, 45 women
joined together to worshipg led by Colleen
Richards and Kat and Lizzie. Our speaker was
Christine Phillips who really blessed us with her
encouraging word.

The next couple of months we had our regular
monthly meetings untiljulywhen we all gathered
th
for a Women's Breakfast on Saturdaythe 19 of
July. We had 20 women who joined together to
fellowship and have a particularly good word from
the Lord. alongwith good food!
August was a month off for most of our ministries
to give a rest to those who work so hard through
the year. We look forward to another Women's

breakfast on the 27 of September at 9:00 am and
then to decorate forthe Harvest Service on the

fellowship and prayingfor one another and
building us all up in the Faith.
We look forward to another year with more of the
women ofthis church taking part in speaking and
sharing what the Lord has given them. We thank
those who have taken part in the past, Lynn Orr,

Bethel Foodbank and U
er Room Café 2024 to 2025
Mathew 25.40 "Truly I say to you, when you did it to the least of these, my brothers, you
did it unto me."
The Foodank and Upper Room Café have experienced a particularly busy year and it has
been a privilege to be able to serve the community in so many ways.
We have a great group of volunteers and have experienced an amazing sense of Gods
presence on Thursdays, the support and consideration shown to each other in the team is
amazing. Their commitment and dedication to what we do is outstanding, and this also
reflects on how the people who come to us are treated. There is just a lovely atmosphere
and comments are often Imade as to how welcoming we are and that it's a pleasure to come
into the café or to ask for a food parcel and not feel judged.
We start Thursdays with a time of prayer and all the volunteers join this, we may pray for
the needs of the group but always pray for the morning's work and those who come in for
help. Also, for the craft group as we have built up good relationships with all the ladies.
We are extremely grateful for the generosity of the local people who continue to donate at
Tesco and to lan (area manager of Trussel Trust) who ensures that our supplies are
replenished when required. The fellowship at Bethel have never failed to support us when
we have put a request out when supplies are running short. We have also been given
donations from outside agencies, such as a local solicitor's office, the power station and
health and safety departnient, local schools and churches and individuals who regularly
make donations. We are truly blessed. The foodbank has been able to support people from
all walks of life and we have seen many individuals, homeless people, couples, families of
four and on occasions larger families up to ten in a family. We are also able to offer help
with feeding cats and dogs which folk are so grateful for. Personal products and laundry
pods are also required by many people, and we can meet these needs too.
The cafe is busy and it's lovely to see friendships develop there, and folk meeting regularly.
There is a lot of banter goes on and also sharing information and supporting each other. We
explain what goes on the church and will offer to pray with or for those who would like us
to.
We now have a resident CAB advisor in the café most weeks who will support people who
come for food parcels, and the Wallich (agency who help the homeless) use the foodbank
for those they support and to meet with them. We are pleased that the local police
occasionally request food parcels and other agencies come and take food parcels to help
people they are involved with.
There have been many rewards and answers to prayer seen for the effort the volunteers put
in on every Thursday.

Bethel Crafters
We meet everyThursday and we have 9 members
who attend when they can. We learn a lot from
each other and we laugh a lot. They all saythis is
a safe group and feelthey can share problems.
Lesly says its food for the soul and they enjoythe
weekly prayer. Everyone puts £2.00 in the pot that
is donated to the Church. Written by Margie
Griff iths.
Sunda
School-we now have 4Teachers and 4
Helpers plus two floating helpers we can call on
in cases of sicknesslholidays etc. Our usual
numbers each week are between 10 and 12
children but can reach 15 with visitors.
We are working our waythrough the Scripture
Union book again as it was a year ago we last did
it. It works its way though Bible, first with Main
characters from Old Testament then stories of
Jesus and His miracles and parables. The
children are enjoying it very much. One of our
older children has also taken on the role of calling
the register and helpingthe younger children.

ABC- Due to so many otherthings happeningwe
have had to cancel a few of the Saturdays. We
hope to get up and running now in October. This
year our theme will be Women of the Bible,
exploringthe named and unnamed. Octoberwill
be Harvest so our subject will be Ruth, but we will
also do Noah's Ark and talk about Mrs Noah's part
in this even though she is unnamed in the Bible.
We currently have 7-9 families that come
regularly and some that come occasionally.
We do craft followed by action songs and a story.
We tryto do a craftthat the children can bringto
the story and join in with. This followed by lunch
of hot dogs smiley faces potatoes and cake and
ice cream. We are classed as a warm safe space
by Pembroke DockTown Council so all food is
paid for bythem which is amazing.
Thankyou to allthe teachers and helpers who
come to Sunday School and ABC.
If you want to attend ABC to see what we do
please do> you would be most welcome.
