## **REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES ON THE ACCOUNTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2024**

The Trust was established by a Deed of Gift dated 14 November 1906 by which money was set aside to erect the hall and for its upkeep when erected. On 13 April 1908 the Vicar, Canon Henry Trotter, conveyed to the Trustees part of the glebe land on which the hall was subsequently constructed.

The Trust is a registered charity with the Charity Commission under no. 251573.

Besides the Pennefather Memorial Hall, the Trust also owns 8 Wentworth Road. This was acquired in 1978 from the proceeds of sale of 96 Wentworth Road and with the aid of a loan, since repaid, from Christ Church PCC. 96 Wentworth Road had been bought in 1966 as a residence for the assistant member of staff at Christ Church Barnet.

The Trustees confirm that they have complied with their duty to take due regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the Charity Commission in exercising their powers and duties.

The Trustees have considered the major risks to which they may be exposed and have sought to ensure that the appropriate steps have been taken to mitigate those risks.

The receipts and payments account shows an excess of payments over receipts for the year of £1,015. This is after paying £9,774 for major works at 8 Wentworth Road. The general reserve at the end of the year amounts to £11,449. There were no major works in the hall during the year. The Trustees have agreed a reserves policy, in line with Charity Commission guidance, of retaining a reserve equivalent to at least three months expenditure and the reserve exceeds this figure.

The Trustees who served during the year were: Mr Roger Seaton (Hon. Secretary and Treasurer) Mrs Caroline Dixon

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF THE PENNEFATHER MEMORIAL HALL**

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 December 2024 which are set out on pages 2 to 3

## **Responsibilities and basis of report**

As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

## **Independent examiner's statement**

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
