Respective responsibllitles of commlttee members and Independent examlner. As the committee members you are responsible for the preparation of the flnancial statement., you consider that an audit is not required for this year under Section 14412) of the Charities Act 2011 Ilhe Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to.. - Examine the accounts under section 145 of the Act., To follow such procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners under section 145151{bl of the Act and- To stale whether particular matters have come lo my attention. Basis of independent examiner's report: My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by Market Weighlon War Memorial Institute board and a comparison of the financi81 slalements with those records. 11 also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the financial slalements, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning such matters. The procedures do not provide all of the evidence that would be required in an audit, consequently no opinion is given as lo whether the accounts present a Irue and fair view. and the report is limited lo those matters set out in the slalemenl below. larket Weighton War Memorial Institute NOTES TO FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30TH JUNE 2024 ACCOUNTING POLICIES 1.1 Basls of preparatlon The financial statements of the charity have been prepared in accordance wtth the Charities Act 2011 using the Receipts and Payments Basis. 1.2 Grants and donations A donation or grdnt to the charity rs recognised as incoming fvnds when all the followirTrg conditions have been mel: la) The charkty is legally entitled to receipt., Ib) There is reasonable assurance of receipL and Ic) Its monetary value can be measured with sufficient reliability. 1.3 Fund accounting Incoming resources that may be applied for the charity's general purposes are treated as "unreslricled. incoming resources and are credited to the"unrestricted funds". Funding for purposes designated for a specific purpose by the Trustees is credited to "designated funds.. Where a donatton or grdnt is required to be used for a spectfic pUoSe, the amount concemed is treated as a 'restricted" incoming resource and is credited to the appropriate.st.Cted fund". 1.4 The charity is registered in the UK and has the benefit of exemption trom UK lax liability provided any surplus made by the charity is used for charitable purposes.
