The charity was fomied to erect and mainlain a chapel as a place fof Christian worship lor members of Churchill
College and theirf8m*lies and friends. Th8 Chapel at Churchill Colle98 is ecum8nical and provides a locus for
worship for all Christian people in the College community. Any christs.an group may use th& chap81 for prayèr,
bibje study or discussion. and can book through the chainnan ol the trustees. Servi￿5 are held on Sundays
during the Universty temi. These serwces a￿ open to the general public 8nd are advertised on a notice board
atthe front of Churchill Ctsllege. Members of Ihe puL4ic m8y gain access to the chapgl at other b.rnes by
contscting the chaim)an ol the trustees or the bursar. The cha￿ain Is available to all students, fellows and staff
of the college of any faith or none at any bme and on any matter on which he rnay be able to help. He is in
C￿lege at least one 8fternoon per week during term b"me.

The trustees have considered the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit and, in particular, the
sperAfic guidan￿ on ¢harib'es forthe advancement of TolvJion and beI￿ve that they have cornptied their
dube$.
A¢hlevements and Perforniance
The year has been one of major changes for Ihe chapel trkjst. (uasioned by the retirement of our long serving
chapl8in Rev Jghn R￿]n￿on at the end of the calendaf year 2022. After much deliberats"on, the trustees
resolved not to advertsse the posL but invited Rev Nigel Cooperlo tske up th& position for a fixed term tenure ol
vo years. As a consequence of this, the opportunity has been taken to update many ofthe trust's policies and
procedures.
rhere have inewt2bty baen some thanges to seNces. The collaborati(￿ wth the Inter Alios choir Ltnder the
direction ol Ewan Campbell has flOuriskn￿. The trustees remain Con￿rned at the felatively low level of
attendance at Sunday servar£s, and have been exploring other ways that the buildtng can be used for the benefit
of the college community. As an experiment, the Chapel has started hosting a secular'words and Music event
following a short spoken service on some Sunday evenings. Whilst the chapel must remain predominantly a
place of Christian worship. Ihe trustee5 are keen that Ihat 811 members of the college should feel welcome.

The trust has now repaid its share of the costs of the roof repairs to the college from a combination ol
8￿￿My18ted income and the proceeds of8 fundraising c8mpavJn. The Injst is gr*¢fvl to the donors vtho
contnbuted and to the college for enabling the costto be spread over 8 number of year5. The trust is a150
grateful to an anonymous donor who has provided a restricted lund which Is to be spent at the th8plain's
discretion.
Reserves Pollcy
The trustees have a pdiGy of ￿aining suffirient liquid assets to support On￿oing commitments and any surplus
cash abo¥e that level is invested for the rnedium tgrrn to enable the tharity lo maintsin the Chapel at Churchill
College and worship therein, in per￿(￿rty, in accordance wth the tharrtls ob]'ectwe5.
