CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
A warm welcome to guesls, committee members, trustees and those of you wishing to join
the Memorial Hall committee. This is IheAGM of the War Memorial Hall 2025.
My thanks go to my fellow committee members, our stall erector Andy, our cleanerlcaretaker
Karen and Sheila Ridley ourAdministrator
The Memorial Hall over the past year has been struggling financially with the ever increasing
costs of electricity and gas etc. This will be an ongoing battle until our govemment and
powers that be sorl themselves out. It's good to see from our Treasurer's report that we have
made a profit this year.
I must apologise for my lack of attendance this y8ar due to my retir8ment from work and my
Wish to travel and follow my beloved football. I will try to give the Committee a little more of
my attention.
We all know the hall needs a vast amount of money spent on it to make it more appealing to
our users. Hopefully with the help of new members, fresh ideas and renewed energy this can
be achieved. Already Linda Knight from the library has attended a couple of our meetings to
try and encourage us to go for more grant funding. With people around like this il gives us
encouragement.
We rely heavily on our dance classes. They are one of our main income streams but it also
means they fill a lot of our booking slots.
We have let out the dug out to the sweets lady giving us a re9ular income for this space.
Wednesdays we now have the regular café and stalls which sgems to be going well.
A newly formed Veterans Breakfast Club has been fomied in Kirkbymoorside and looking at
our historic documenls the Memorial Hall is the ancestral horne of the British Legion,
Kirkbymoorside. So perhaps with more investigation this could benefit a new avenue of
funding.
Repairs and decorating ar& things we have to keep ahead of. if not the building will fall into
more disrepair. So as 8 group wo h8ve to keep Ii)oking into ways of funding this.
The coming year I hope is bright for the Memorial Hall with new committee members and an
enthusiasm to make this building a jewel in the crown of Kirkbymoorside. Thank you all for
your help in the last year.
