Summary of the maln actfvltles In relatlon to these objertlves: The Board of Trustees- Canterbury Diocese Mothers, Union was govemed by a newly elected Trustee body which met bimonthly with a prepublished agenda and structured mlnutes recordin8 the proceedln85. As a new Trustee Board, the prlority was to build on the work undertaken in the previous triennium and capttslise on the strengths within the team whllst promotingthe work of the Mothers. Union both locally and worldwide. Several of the Trustees took on new roles and agreed to represent the Diocese at the central charitie's Communlty of Interest meetings. The Trustees undertook the requlred training for trustees online through the central charity and later the governance module. Safeguarding training and DBS checks were overseen by our Safeguarding Officer, Rachel Thomas. Jackie Curd represented the diocese at the Provincial conference. and she and Sue Spillett attended the Leadership conference in Liverpool. Membershlp- Unfortunately. membership had further declined with one branch closing but several ofthose members had transferred their membership to become Diocesan members. Members continued to receive a Diocesan Newsletter three times a year with photographs and reports from across the di¢xese, news from the central charity and overseas news. Thev also received an annual Prayer Diary and two copies of Communicated, a publication from the central charity. Diocesan Members were looked after by Susan Spillett. Southeast auster- In March on behalf of the Southeast Cluster, we welcomed the Worldwide President, Kathleen Snow. the Zonal Trustee Julia Jamieson. the Provincial President Comfort Fearon and staff representative frorn the central charity Atim Abrahrnsto worship with us in Canterbury Cathedral and then share fellowship over lunch and afternoon tea in St Paul's Church, Canterbury. Brnnches and Fellowshlps- Branches and Fellowships mostly met monthly wlth a period of prayer and worship central to the meeting. Most of our work was at grassroots level with local groups supportin8 the homeless. refugees, those leaving foster care, knittin8 hat5 for babies and running or supportin8 toddler groupsl Sunday schools as approprlate to their individual area. Members were once again active in Advent and Christmas worship and en8a8in8 wlth families and children in their local schools and churches. Several branches donated prefilled shoeboxes to other charities to distribute, or prepad Christmas 8ifts for Inpatients in local hospitals or disadvanta8ed Childn. Falth: Wave of Prayer- We took our turn with the Wave of Prayer with DaTrielle Ligneau Wilton our Overseas Officer providing messages of support and news th* had been exchanged wlth our link dioceses in Nigeria and South Sudan. Qulet Days- Two dates were set for Quiet Days. and we are Brnteful to St Peters Church, 8oughton Monchelsea and the Living Well for allowing us to use their facilities. Rev'd Carol Smith led both days but unfortunately the second date was not well 5UPPOrted. Emergency Prayer arcle- Mary Cook oversaw the work of the Emergency Prayer Circle and recruited more members to ensure cover for holiday periods.
Worshlp-A Festival service to markthe beginnin8 of the new Trieniurn was held in Canterbury Cathedral in April with Archdeacon Will Adam presiding and preachin8 and our Diocesan Chaplain Rev'd Ernma Pennington in attendance. In December we held our Advent service In Canterbury Cathedral with Dean David preaching. 16 Day5 of Actlvlsm agalnst Gender Based Vlolence- Observance of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence was a 5tron8ly supported project with displays in many of our churches and in Canterbury Cathedral. Prlsons- We were able to reconnect with two of our prisons and offered Christmas cards and support at their carol services. We also made contact with a local refu8e and are hopin8 to work more closely with them next year. AFIA- We concentrated on fundralsing to support the AFIA holiday at Ashbumham in 2026. Flnance- Membership fees were collected by the branche5 and the required donation sent to the central charity. All funds ralsed for local projects were overseen and accounted for by the Treasurer, Susan Thoma5 and money for specific or worldwide projects was sent to the central charity as appropriate. The accounts were presented at the annual meetin8 in accordance wlth the requirements of the charity commisSn and accepted. Goln8 forward: Several branches acbvely support baptism prepafation in their churches. and it is a ministry that the Trustees would like to develop further. The Trustees were able to support over twenty newly ordalned cler8y wlth cards and messages of support. A clergy pack will be developed by the Trustees.
