hold badges. diaries. membership cards, a selectlon of greeting and 0th8r cards in stock in th8 offica.

the end of each year MU Sallsbury Dlocese receives a tumover-rolated grant whlch represents

Mombershlp and Fundlng:
The Mothers, Unlon Diocese of Salisbu￿$ membership in 2024 was 659. a decrea8e of 54, but whlch
Includes $47 brancNgroup, and 112 Dlocesan members whose mamb6rshlp Is admlnlstered by Mothers,
Union. Diocesan Offlce. Branches number 36. The annual subscriptton is shared be￿een Mary Sumner
Nouse (£15.1571 and the Mothers, Unlon Salisbury Diocesan G8n8ral Fund. The subscrfption per member
incrèasèd to £35 In 2024 from $32 in 2023 although Mary Sumner Increased its share for 2024 from £21
to £23 par member. Total re￿P1S in 2024 were (£44,258) ￿th payments of1£48.2401.
Donations to the following Mothers, Union Funds were made by members and also grants.. Holidays (Away
From 11 All) £16,316. Overseas Fund donafjons were £6,961 for 2024. The don81ions from members
were raised by means of various av8nts, collectlons at church seNces. overseas boxe5 and donations
from individuals, legades, branches and dean8rf9s.
Monies received In memory of Vice President Andr8a Fox are allocated within the Holiday Fund and are
ng fenced for items for the hollday home at Rockl8y Patk.
The charity owns 1,426 shares, which are invèsted in the Central 8oard of Flnance, the market value of whi
was £32,235 as at 31st December 2024. an increase of £2.794 from the previous year. The maln b8nkws
for the charity are Lloyds TSB. S?lisbury and the Na￿onwIde Bulldlng Soryety.
Reserv•s Pollcy:
The Trustees continue to retsln the Central Board of Finaneé Investhient 1£32,2351 and part of the
Nationwlde deposit {£9,4471 in reserve lo ensure that adequate funds are always avallable to cover
unexpected expendlture. partiC￿artY with reganl to our respanslblllty as employers.

Truste88 attend five Board meetings which are held each year. Any sub-commlttee whSch Is gstabllshgd Is
subordinate to the Board of Trustees. Al sub-commltments report to the Board of Trustses.

Prayer is tha foundation of all that we (lo in Mothers, Unlon. W8 ar8 delighted lo have our own Mothers.
Unlon Chaplaln. The Reverend Jayne Tyrer Ilicen8ed by the Bishop as chaplain in July 2023) leads us in
Prayer and Wur5hlp at our Trust88s' and Spring and Autumn Gatherings ol members. Our Worshlp and
Discipleship have been enhanc8d by her presence and wa thank her for all that sh& does.
The 659 members in Ihe Diocese each have a copy of the annual Prayor Diary, produced by Mary Sumner House.
whlch encourages and enablas dwly prayer for the w{￿d and for MU prol8Cts and workers as well as prowding
Information lo help our prayer times 8nd understanding. Members are encouraged to pray at mldday each day. In
additlon. all memb8rs r8c8iv8 a copy of the Mothers, Union bi-annual publlcation 'Conn8cted'.
Members gather each month lor communlon in the Cathadral. Parish Priests from dlfferent parts of the Dlocesg are
invlted to lead the services.
A member prepare5 a monthly Reff8Gtlons ènd Inlerc8sslons leaflet which is ctrculated throughout the
Dioc8se. The 188flel encourages members lo pray for named individuals as well as lor specific mallers.
In e8￿Y February many of our members gathered once agaln throughout th8 Diocase to loln iogeth6r in our virtual
Wave of Prayer sarvica pr8pared by our Dlocesan Chaplain. MembeTS speclfically prayed for our Ilnk dioceses In
Kenya. Botswana, Nlgerfa and th& Andaman and Nlcobar Islands. Salisbury Dlocesg continuas to have strong Ilnks
th the Sudanese Dloceses and. although Sallsbury Mothers, Union no longer has officlal links with Sudan and
South Sudan. members contlnue to pray for our brothers and slsters there and are pleased to receive news of Ihem.

Our 6-b8d holiday home at Rockley Park, Poole is let out at very low rates to families who need 8 break. The prolect
Is deslgned to gfvg assisted families experfenclng thè pressures of day40-day lfrfe a safe place away from il all. MU
branches klndly donate Welcome Packs. Dudng th8 19 weeks It was open In 2024. 37 adults and 44 children were
able to make use of it and benefit from the facllllles provided by th8 Park. Our MU AFIA (Away from It All) fvnd 15 in
h8althy state. generously supported by members. the nndall Trust and St Mary's Fund. ArKlra# Fox's legacy of
£1.325 continues lo enable us to promdè spacial items for those using this farillty.
Our Molher¥' Union VIrtLfal Baby Life Skills project In thé Diocese is aimed 81 young people aged 154 often from
depdved areas of Willshire and Dorsel. to prepare them for some of th8 important demands of famlly life as they
oumey towards adulthood. We work kKal 8econdary schools and teams of local DBS checked volunteers wlth
focu5 on parenung and pr8gnancy but 8180 on many wder sodal Issues, such as healthy relationshlps. p8rsonal
choiGe. stress management and bullding self-awareness. ttonfidence and asplrallon. In the academlc school y8ar
Seplèmber 2023 lo J￿Y 2024, we vlsltod 7 schoDls and 130 puplls took part in the project.
Mothers. Unlon is a significant supporter of Sallsbury Women's RefiJge - Pro￿dIng Irust8es on Its Board. A number
of the residents have been guests on our e8rtier residenttal holidays. Mothers. Union melmbws are very generous In
thalr donations lo the Sallsbury Women's R8fLJg8 wlth whlch we have a special rela￿onShIp, having been one of the
orfglnal founders. As well as flnandal donations, mernbers donat8 collections of items. Includlng clothes. household
Items and vouchers.
Our promotion of the 16 Days of Ad￿srn Campaign Against Gender Based Viol&nc8 continues and support for the
campalgn Is always increasing. In 2024. our Eucharfst (in its 1yh ye8r) was held In the Trinity Chapel of Sallsbury
Cathadral. Blshop Stephen, Blshop of the Di¢)cese of Sallsbury, led the se￿Ice which was allended by over 1(KJ
members and guests. The address at th6 Cathedral Sen￿Ce was glven by Sam Murphy from FearFr88 who

addressed the Issue of domestic abusé in Wiltshlre.
Our Mothèrs. Unlon °Souls of our Shoes" dlsplay In NovemberlDeGember wa$ featured in the Cathedral during the
period our EuchaTisI service took place and until 6 December. Other venues for the dlsplay were St Thomas'g Church
Salisbury and a number of Salisbury shop spaces. aty Churches and office spaces prior to Christrnas. We agaln
joined with the SoropilmSsts in Sallsbury In a collaborative effort to ralse wllh the public the issue of domaslic and
gender-based viol&nce.
RISE UP Against Dome5tlc Abuse is Mothers, Union's campaign. launthad in Sèptember 2023. to ralse awareness
about domesllc abuse. The aim is to make sure that actlvlsm against dom6sti¢ abuse and gender-based vlolenc8
happens 385 days a year and not just durtng the 16 Days of activism campaign In November and Decernber. The
letters of RISE UP stand for Respond, Infonn, Support, Empower. Unlte and Pray. Thera are bronze. silver and gold
awards for branches and churche5 who tske part and complete varlous adivities. Som8 branches vAlhln the Dloce8e
hav8 achleved the Bronze Award.
Mothers, Unlon Is a partner with Prison Fellowshlp in providlng Christmas glfts as part of the Angel Tree prdect for
chlldren of PriSDnars al HMP Eriestoke. We act on p￿sOnerS, appllcatlons to send glfts to their children. Mothers,
Unlon funds, sourc85, wraps and posts the gifts. Christmas 2024 saw 43 individual pr8s8nts wrapped for th8 childr8n
of 25 fathers serving in Erfe8toke prison. Angel Tree is a simple and rewarding way for Mothers. Union lo help
prisoners slay In contsct wllh their families during Impd50nment and which looks to conlrfbute to reduclng r
offending rates.
At the beglnning of December. for the first time. Salisbury MU decorated and dlsplayed 8 Christmas tree al St
Thomas's Church's Christmas Tree Feslival. highlighting Mother3. Union work 8round tha world. Our Branch in
Harnham decorated its own tree featuring Mu's new Illtteracy Campaign focu¥ing on women who have mlssed out
on education due to war and disruption - all intended to ra15e the profile and make the Mothers, Unlon and Its work
natlonally and lnteMa￿0na1sY known to the publtG.
Promotlon:
As mentloned above. Increaslng numbers of mèmbers are purchaslng MU products via the intemel. The foot1811 in
the office is therefore reduced as well as our awareness of members, buylng pattems. Trustees conunue to monllor
the viabillty of continuing with the offlce shop and the consequent costs. Most communi￿tiOn takes place by e-mall.
However. when larger documents such as magazlnes, bookl8ts, survey5 and notifications from Mary Sumner House
require dlstdbutlon to memb&rs. every effort Is made lo do this in pr&packed envelopes for collection 8t Auturnn and
Spdng Galherings. thereby savlng on postage. Our Diocesan Secretary relies upon the ass18tance of a team of
volunteers in this preparalJDn.
Safoguardlng:
As an organisatlon concemed wlh Christian prfndples and mini51ry in famlly Ilfe. the nurture and prolectlon of
children. young peopl8 and adults Is at the heart of Mothers. Unlon. Both individually as mèmbers and collectively
as an organlsation, Molhgrs, Union has a duty to protect children. young people and adults, doing evèrything possibla
to ensure that they are safe when involved in MolhéryJ' Unlon activitios.
Mothers. Union now benefits from a c<>mprehensive Policy and Procedures ￿1¢h provldes a fram8work for
safèguardlng practice within Mothers, Union in Britain. W6 ar6 commltted to promoting a safer 8nvironm8nl and
culture for all involved In our prolecls. programmes. initlatlve5 and activitl8s. The Pollcy applles lo everyone wortlng
on behalf of Mothèrs, Union in Britain, namely senior managers, board of trustses, pald staff, volunteers. members,
affiliates and contracted consultants. Th& Po51cy and Procedures and tralnlng needs are regulady revlewed and
saf&guarding remaln5 an agenda item al our trustee meetings. DBS checks tor those worklng with children, young
poople and adults at risk are requlred every 3 years.

In accordance wllh legislation and followlng the guidelin88 from Mary Sumner House. Mothers, Union in the Diocase

of Sallsbury seeks lo adhere to Data Protedon legislation.
Inltlatlves:
In partnership with Spurgeons Children Charfty, a Christian ch8rlty that aims lo Improve the Ilves of Chlldren and
familles struggllng tD cope, MU members In Branches and Pray8r and Fellowship Groups put together, for young
mothers leavlng hospital ￿th very litt18, supplles necessary for them and Iheir newboms, such as napples, baby
clothes. baby blankets and towels. pram toys etc. whl¢h are delivered to Ruth BrDake5-MarUn who manages
Spurg8ons' collecdons.
As a separate Inlllatlve. member5 knll baby blankets to a specific size and pattern. This initlattve was In response to
a call pul out by Sallsbury District Hospital wh8r8, on average, 100 babies are bom 8very month. The Maternity Unit
was unabl8 to pro)Ade blanket$ for all the bablgs and so Mothers, Union came to the rescue. We conunued to respond
throughout 2024 when approximately 500 blankets w8rB produced and dalivored. These gifts of love together ￿th
approxlmately 50 crafted items- é.g. newboms, knitted hats. baby swaaters, twlddle muffs and the Ilke- were also
tlonaled by MU Salisbury Dic￿ese vla charftable organlsalions to familie$ in need living in the Dioces8.
