Objectives:

Rossington Good Neighbours promotes the welfare of the elderly and vulnerable residents in the Parish of Rossington. Our customers are 50+ but we welcome their carers or family members who assist in their wellbeing. During this year we have widened our remit to include Rossington Outreach Group which is a respite service for Adults with Learning Disabilities.

Principle Activities:

Every Wednesday and Thursday a freshly cooked two course meal is provided at Rossington Memorial Hall. We use fresh ingredients and employ two cooks to ensure a good standard is upheld. We submit a menu to our customers every month and alternatives are available if required. We rely heavily on local volunteers who come to help prepare the vegetables, serve the lunches and clear up afterwards.

We also have a delivery van that delivers to those who are unable to attend the Memorial Hall.

Prices for the meals have been increased this year to £4.50 for lunch at the Hall and £5.00 if delivered. Even at these low prices, because of our continued efforts to keep costs down we still manage to make a small profit.

2024 2025 Achievements:

2024 2025 has been a tough year – many older people are still struggling to get out and about after Covid and any indication of an illness and they stay at home. Many of our older members have passed away and gaining new members has been a struggle. We do advertising and leaflet drops to encourage new clients.

Funding:

As stated we gained grants from many businesses: Rossington Parish Council, Rotary Club and SYCF

Reserves:

At the end of March 2025 we had £13,254 reserves. This is an decrease on the previous year.

Looking Forward:

We are hoping to gain grants for promotion, which will be a leaflet drop in the Rossington Today (local magazine) which is delivered to all homes in the Parish.

Insurance:

Rossington Good Neighbours are covered by Zurich Municipal Public Liability Insurance

AUDIT SERVICE FOR ROSSINGTON GOOD NEIGHBOURS – 2024 - 2025

There are NO significant problem areas, however there are a number of questions / recommendations, which I am sure can be addressed verbally.

  1. Cash was at times difficult to reconcile, however it is understandable given the type of service offered and the clientele – maybe it could be easier from an audit perspective if the amount banked from the individual transactions was shown in a separate column?

It is also appreciated that given the profile of the people that attend this project it is realistic to assume that cash will be used more often – but it needs to be closely controlled

  1. We also talked about the use if possible of a sole supplier and one back up for most transactions. This is being done on most occasions.

Various tests were employed which ascertained that the accounts were free from material error, based upon selected analysis, and on the information provided, there is no evidence of concern that need to be drawn to attention for the period ended March 2024.

Additionally, if re-appointed I shall be delighted to continue in this role next year.

If you have any queries, please let me know.

Yours sincerely
