The Tnjstees present their report and financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2023.
The financial statements have been prepared in ac￿rdanCe with the a￿untIng policies set out in note 1 of
the financial stslemenls and comply with the Consbtut￿n. the Charities Act 2011 and "A¢counling and
Reporb'ng by Charities.. Ststement of Recommended Practice aFwlicable to charib'es prepanng their accounts
in accordance with the Financial Reporting Stsndard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS
1021" (as amended for acLx*unling per￿S cnmmencing from 1 January 20161
Obje¢tlve8 and actlvltl88
The object ol Dolanog Residential Home, as sel out in rfs constitution, is the promotion of the ￿lfare of the
aged by the provision of a residentsal home. The charity aims'to maximise the comfort and care of r&idenls
through maintaining high slandards throughout the home. This covers the living accommodation. the quality of
care, cultural experien¢e$, the food and drink on offer, outings and excursions and also the safety and security
of the residents.
Dolanog Residential Home achieves ils objedNes through ils strategy of good househohj management and
control, by maintsining the property and buildings. The hot water system has been upgraded this year and a
programme has been started fedecoraling Inlemal areas of the home. A newty introduced Art and Crafts room
ha8 proved very popular with the reshjents.
Recruitment of $taff continues to provo challenging following the Covick19 pandemic which has affected the
whole of the so¢￿1 care seelor. Th• home aims lo maintain an ample roster of staff enabling il to wold any
problem8 with holiday or sickness cover. All staff retsNe regular training and all are strongly ¢￿￿uraged to
qualify for NVQ let 3. at least. Furthèr qualrficats'on is not just encouraged by the charity. il is also funded by
the charity on th6 employee's behaK. The Trustee's priority is lo do all they can lo ensure a high level ol
morale among the Staff
The Home is regularty prai8ed by re8idents' famili88.
The trustees have paid due regard to guidance is8wI by the Charity CommissK>n in dee￿Ing what activrtie8
the charity should undertake.
Achlevem&nts and perfomianc•
Due to the enforced constraints imposed by the pandemic. the TnJSl￿ remain obliged lo focus on the
priorities of ils obligations lo defer considerations of future aspirations. expansions and enhancements.
STRATEGIC REPORT
The Trustees were always aware that their sK*erfic decision several years ago, lo act on the advice received
that they should utiltie a signfficanl part ol their substantial accJJmulaled funds lo enhancing the comfort and
benefit of Dol8nc*J'S residenls, woukl effect it8 enwable finanaal base.
The eypendrture was foween as a prudent way to secure Lwanog's future a$ an attfacttve, appealing and
viable communty asset in a competitsve enmronment.
The Trustees have resolved to introduce a nuntsr of horefulty short-lemi cost4utting measures. alongsid8
renewed efforts to restore luller occupancy, all aimed al replenishing the reduced level of investments. This
objective wll not in any way infn'nge the home's immutable commrtrnent to delNer the highest achievable lev81
of care that befits our Charitab￿ ethos. abl￿al￿)n$ and unwavering motNatK)n.

PLANS FOR FUTURE PERIODS
The hoffle's abiding emphasis on provKling attrxtsve. seasonal and nourishing food, continues to be a
prominent daily feature of life at Dolanog. Having long dispensed with budgetary constraints, the Iruslees and
focused kitchen staff are fiercety proud of the range and qualty of food to be enjoyed every meal time.
The Trustees remain ¢crfnmitted lo providing a high level ol a)mfort in the home and lo provide adequatè
activities and outings for Dolanog's residents.
Structuro. Govorance and Management
The Charity Is governed by its conslitutKJn. It has been register&J as a charity sinc6 1965. 11 was originalty
registered as'The knan's Convalescent Home, Rhyf,. The chanty registrabon number is 245425 and it
OP8ral88 from 87 Russell Road. Rhyl. Denb￿hSh1Te. LL18 3DU. It 18 an Unin￿￿orated association.
The Trustees named on page 2 have seryed during the year. All trustee apFoinlments are governed by the
constitution and all appointments are approved by the Board of TN$tees. The Board of Trustees is authorised
to appoint new trustees lo fill vacancies arising through rèsignation or death of an existing trustee. Before
being appointed, Iruslees generally serve on the committee to confirn their Suitabilty and need to apply lo the
CSSIW to register as a responsiblo person for the Charity.
Mr H M McEvoy OBE retired al the AGM held in 2023 and he was invrted by the Tru8lee3 to relum a$
President for Life. Dr H M Pritchard was elected Chaimian of the Truslees and Mrs Tracey Thomas wa8
welcomed as a Trustee later in the year.
The Board of Trustees meet monthly throughout the year and the Trustees annual general meeting is
attended by the Hcffie'5 profeSs￿n81 AccountanL There is a180 an annual meeting held with l)oth Doianog's
financial advisors.
Although the board is the key deusion making tojy. the day to day resFonsibilty for the managemonl of Ihe
residential home is delegated lo the home manager.

systems, will provide suffiaent resources in the event of adverse conditions. The trustees have also examined
other operational and business nsks faced by the chanty and CLMfim that they have established sy818ms to
manage those risks.

1.1 Accountlng conventlon
The financial statements have been prepared in aeA))rdan¢e wrth the charity'$ ¢on$titution, the ¢harilies Act
2011 and "A¢counling and Rewrb"ng by Charit*s". Statement of Recommen(led Practi￿ applicable to
charities preparing their aC￿unts in accordance with the Financial Repotts'ng Standard applicable in the UK
and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021" las amended for accountsng periods commencing form 1 January
20161. This is a Public Benefft Entity 88 defined ty FRS 102.
The charity has taken advantage of the provisions in the SORP frjr charibes apptying FRS 102 Update
Bulleting 1 not to prepare a Statement of Cash FkA¥S
The financial statement8 have departed from the chariti.es {Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only
to extent required lo provide a true and fair view. This departure has involved following the Statement of
Recommended Prath'ce lor chariks apptying FRS 102 ralhef than the version of the Slalemenl of
Recommended Practice whith is referred to in the Regulat￿n8 but which has since been withdrawn.

Unrestricted funds are avai&ble for use at the disuetA)n of the trustees in fvrtherance of their charitable

and useg of the restricted funds are set out in the notes to the finanoal statements.
Endowment fvnds are subject to specfft conditi'ons by don0￿ that the capital must be maintsined by the
trustees.

Dolanog ResKlential Home prepared in accordan￿ with FRS 102. The Finanaal Reporting Stsndard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland. The date of transitson lo FRS 102 was 1 January 2022. The
reported financial positK*n and financial perfonnance for the Pre¥￿u$ period are not affected by the
transition to FRS 102.

'Other Financpl Instruments Issues. of FRS 102 to all of its financial instwments.

contractual provisions of the instrument.

In the application of the chanty's accounting p)li¢ie$. the Trustees are required to make judgemgnls,
estimates and assumptions about the carrying amount of assets and liabilities that are not readily apparent
from other sources. The estimates and aSSc￿ated assumptions are based on historKal experience and
other fadors that ar8 ¢onsidered to be relevant. A(aual results may differ from these estimates.
The estimates and undetying assumptK)ns are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions to accounting
