Trustee's Report April 2019 - March 2021
Since the AGM in May 2019, we have had three lock downs due to Covid so there
was no AGM either in person or online in 2020.
The chairman of the rest rooms has been very busy over the two years both
maintaining the building and managing the re-opening of the building when we
were allowed too. She put in for a £500 grant to pay for a building survey from
Hadley & Leegomery Parish Council which was received in October 2019. We also
heard from the council about the collection bins - all the paperwork was filled so
we now have a regular paid-for collection from Veolia. A new cleaner was
employed. The Christmas dinner with guests from the club was held in January
2020.
Also in January 2020, we held a special meeting with the members to discuss the
future of the rest rooms. with things on the building needing to be done and
members dwindling. The decision was to keep going because everything was
still functioning - both for the members and for all the lettings. A survey was
done of the electrics and all necessary repairs and updates done.
In March 2020 we had the first lockdown and all use of the building. including as
a poll station was stopped. In summer. help was received from the local parish
council to do a risk assessment in order to re-open the building. which was all
typed up properly. Two of the trustees Jon Brumwell and Gill Moore resigned, and
Keith Austin also stopped his role as trustee for health reasons. That makes me
the one remaining trustee. A grant from the government via the local council for
£10,000 was applied for and received.
In September 2020, the rest rooms re-opened! The back garden was cleared and
we had a fire risk assessment done on the building. A number have things have
been done as a result of the risk assessments. For example. all cleaning
materials have been locked away.. there is a first aid box and accident book and
pen in the kitchen, and all electric equipment has been tested. Anyone wanting
to use the kitchen must have their food hygiene certificate, and safeguarding
must be in place for groups with children. To re-open. tape was put on the floor
for social distancing. Since September 2020. the karate. bowls, and teachers
have all returned. The capacity was 20 people in the large room, 2 people in the
kitchen. A grant was received from the parish council to tidy the back garden.
In October 2020, the building survey was done because of cracks on the wall.
These cracks were identified as being due to problems with the drains on the
side of the lady's toilets which has now been fixed. Over the year the chair
applied for lots of small grants lin addition to the £10,000) which mounted up to
£24.803. The president was satisfied with everything that had been done at our
AGM in July 2021.
