4. CHAIR’S REPORT:
The Chair gave her report as follows:
It has been a very busy and productive year with some key milestones being met and celebrated by the Trustees.
In October 2023 I was elected Chair of Trustees, welcoming a new Committee of 15 Trustees along with a Secretary and Treasurer. I would like everyone to join me in saying a huge thank you to each and every one of you for your contributions over the last year. We are today bidding a very fond farewell to two of our Trustees, Neil Marshall and Kevin Gilbert. Their dedication, knowledge and support have been invaluable to us over the past year and they will be greatly missed, thank you both for you contribution.
Our objective at Great Glen Village Hall, linked to our constitution, is to provide a community facility for all, something which has united us and been our motivation. As the hall had stood empty for a considerable period of time we quickly organised ourselves to get it reopened whilst generating a plan to preserve the existing building, modernising it to meet the needs of today’s community.
To be able to focus and prioritise our activities we formed sub committees for policies, communication, re-opening and regeneration. This has enabled us to spread the workload across the committee and work at pace in-between our monthly meetings. Special thanks goes to Alison Gibson, Neil Marshall, Sue Glasper and Mark Hurd for Chairing these sub committees and delivering so much over the past year.
Some of my personal highlights from our activity over the year include:
• Hosting two open days with fantastic engagement and support from the community
• Raising much needed funds through generous donations and securing of money through grant schemes including the National Lottery
• The Mini Village of Great Glen Exhibition hosted by Anne and Paul King really brought the community together with schools, community groups and local businesses all participating. Many people from Great Glen and surrounding villages came to see it giving us the opportunity to showcase the hall and raise much needed funds
• Re-opening the Village Hall in May 2024 to a diverse range of bookings and seeing the hall come alive again with everything from keep fit classes, birthday parties, mehndi parties, Indian dance and our recent comedy night which was a sell out
• Seeing the launch of a new website with important booking information for people interested in using the hall
We must extend our gratitude to all of the many individuals and local businesses who have provided financial support along with their time, skills and in the case of the Royal Oak, meeting space, to enable the Village Hall to reopen, along with those who provide constant and continued support to keep us open. We must also thank everyone involved in their continued work on the plans to preserve and modernise the hall for future generations.
Our success is directly linked to the hard work and support of our committee. We have made extraordinary progress this year and I’d like to personally thank every Trustee along with the Secretary and Treasurer for their energy and commitment. A special thanks has to go to Sue Glasper who’s unwavering vision, determination and hard work supported by Bill has got us to where we are, had it not been for her we would not be here today.

Whilst the Village Hall is back open and generating enough income to make it a sustainable venture it is in need of some major maintenance work and modernisation which the minimal cost of hire fees cannot meet.
The year ahead will be focused on:
-
Continuing to provide a community space for a wide range of diverse activities.
-
Securing grant funding and further donations to enable important maintenance work to be possible.
To support this we have developed a business plan detailing a phased approach to help prioritise
work as funds become available.
Our next big milestone is finding out the outcome of our S106 application from the Harborough District Council Grants Cabinet meeting in November, funds from this are absolutely pivotal to providing a sustainable facility for future years.
Thank you all for your support and if elected again, I look forward to continuing to be part of the Great Glen Village Hall story and helping to secure its future for many more years to come.

Independent Accountant's Report to the Trustees of Great Glen Village Hail I have reviewed the receipts and payments accounts of Great Glen Viitsge Hallforthe year ended 30 September2025which have been prep8red bytheTreasurer from the 8c¢ounting records and information supplied to me. My review has been conducted in accordance with appropriate independent scrutiny applicable to small charities and community organis8tions, and my procedures were limited primarily to reviewing the accounts, considering internal consistency, and discussingthe 8ccounting records wth theTreasurer. A review does not constitute an audit and I do not express an auditopinion on the accounts. Based on my review. nothing has come to rnyattention that gives me reason to believe that th8 accounts do not present fairly the receipts and payments of Great Glen Village Hallforthe year ended 30 September2025.
