**Objects:** BENEFIT OF ALMSPEOPLE WHO SHALL BE POOR MEN OF GOOD CHARACTER WHO ARE NOT LESS THAN 60 YEARS OF AGE AND POOR WOMEN OF GOOD CHARACTER WHO ARE NOT LESS THAN 55 YEARS OF AGE AND WHO (EXCEPT IN SPECIAL CASES TO BE APPROVED BY THE COMMISSIONERS) HAVE RESIDED IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT FOR NOT LESS THAN FIVE YEARS NEXT PRECEDING THE TIME OF APPOINTMENT. PREFERENCE GIVEN TO MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND AND TO MEN WHO HAVE BEEN EMPLOYED IN AGRICULTURE AND THEIR WIDOWS.
