## **Annual Report for the year 2021** 

## History 

The charity was founded following a bequest by Mrs Jane Higginson in 1707. The original will allowed for small donations to be made to Ludlow, Ellesmere and Hanmer Parishes. The current scheme gives the area of benefit as the poor and needy in the ancient parishes of Whitchurch (including Ash and Tilstock), Ludlow, Ellesmere and Hanmer. The charity owns land and property at Eastwick Farm, Tybroughton near Whitchurch. 

## The land and property 

The water supply to the farm and land was replaced in 2010 at a cost of £23,330. The Trustees decided to sell the buildings. The barn (unit 2) was sold in 2010 with 5 acres of land realising £180,000 after payment of all costs. The farmhouse and remaining barns (units 1 & 3) were sold with small parcels of adjoining land, realising a total of £441,000 the sales completed during 2012. All proceeds from the farm buildings have been re-invested in COIF Investment Units. Associated farm land has been retained tenanted by two farmers, Mr Barnett (£7,630.50 pa paid in two instalments due on 25 March and 29 September) and Mr Mottershead (£7,940 pa paid in two instalments due on 25 March and 29 September). The rent was last reviewed in 2012. £32,027 of the charity’s surplus income was used to purchase additional COIF income units.

The Trustees met on three occasions during 2020 on 24[th] February, 30[th] June, and 10[th] November. 

## Income and Expenditure 

The total gross income during 2021 was £43,336.01. Total amount of charitable gifts was £38,407.90 and other running expenses of £2,715.91.
