## **Dear Sisters and Brothers** 

You will have seen the Accounts for Lansdowne Church for the year ending 30 September 2025. The Accounts are produced on a cash basis and show Receipts and Payments of the fellowship during the year together with a statement of funds and balances. 

You will see that the figures for receipts and payments has produced a deficit in the region of £9500. There are a number of mitigating circumstances that contributed to this deficit, primarily the cost involved in maintaining the buildings. However, while understanding that everyone feels the financial pressure of increased costs I would encourage you to review your giving and if you are able, to increasing your giving. 

It is right that I take this opportunity to acknowledge and give thanks for the work done by Samuel Mfoafo-McCarthy and Peter Osborne in managing our finances. It is not any easy task and we are thankful to them for their diligence. 

The year ahead will be a challenging one for all at Lansdowne. We can look forward with confidence and trust in the good providence of God but it is also right to give thanks to the Trustees for their hard work throughout the past year. The Trustees willingly give up their free time to serve God and you, the members. Much work goes on "behind the scenes" and it is right to acknowledge that here. ## **Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of Lansdowne Evangelical Free Church** 

I report on the attached accounts of the church for the year ended 30 September 2025. 

The Church’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. They consider that an audit is not required for this year as laid down in the Charities Act 2011 (The Act) and that an independent examination is acceptable. 

My brief examination was carried out at end of July 2026 in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commission. 

An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the church and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and I do not express an audit opinion on these accounts. 

Following my examination of the accounts and supporting evidence, no matter has come to my attention which gives me reasonable cause to believe that: 

- 1) accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act 2011; 

- 2) the accounts do not accord with those records.
