Notes for Trustee’s

23 November 2024

Dear Sisters and Brothers

You will have seen the Accounts for Lansdowne Church for the year ending 30[th] September 2024. The Accounts are produced on a cash basis and show Receipts and Payments of the fellowship during the year together with a statement of funds and balances.

You will see that the figures for receipts and payments has produced a deficit in the region of £7,000. There are a number of mitigating circumstances that contributed to this deficit which will be touched on by others at the meeting. However, while understanding that everyone feels the financial pressure of increased costs I would encourage you to review your giving and if your able, to increasing your giving.

It is right that I take this opportunity to acknowledge and give thanks for the work done by Samuel Mfoafo-McCarthy and Peter Osborne in managing our finances. It is not an easy task and we are thankful to them for their diligence.

It is also right to give thanks to the Trustees for their hard work throughout the year. The Trustees willingly give up their free time to serve God and you, the members. Much work goes on “behind the scenes” and it is right to acknowledge that here. Thank you for your hard work, wisdom, unity and commitment to serving the cause of Christ in this way.

Independent Examiner’s Report to Trustees of Lansdowne Evangelical Free Church SE27

I report on the attached accounts of the church for the year ended 30[th] September 2024.

The Church’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. They consider that an audit is not required for this year as laid down in the Charities Act 1993 (The Act) and that an independent examination is acceptable.

My brief examination was carried out during end of July and August 2025 in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commissioners.

An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the church and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

Following my examination of the accounts and supporting evidence, no matter has come to my attention which gives me reasonable cause to believe that the Church accounts have been misrepresented in any way or require any subsequent auditing.

A summary of the accounts is included within the documents circulated annually to the Church membership where opportunity is also given to raise any issue of concern. Any issues or concerns are duly commented upon by a trustee member and included within the minutes.
