TRUSTEES REPORT
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 5 APRIL 2025
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in note 1 to the
financi81 statements and comply with the trust's Trust Deed, the Charities Act 2011 and 'Accounting and Reporting
by Ch8ritles.' Stalement of RecoTnmended Practice applicable to charities prepanng their accounts in accordance
with the Finanaal Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021" (effective 1 January
20191.
OblectSves and a¢tivitle¥
The trust's objectives are to provide Income for chaii18ble institutions and ¢h8rrtable purposes at the discretion of
the trustees, with a speci81 concem for Oxfordshire. The Trust does not consider applications from individuals.
The Trustees are directed lo apply the incorT% or capital of the Trust Fund to such charitable puipose or purposes
and in such proportion as they may from time to time in their sole discretion think fit.
The Trustees confirm that they have refefred io the guidance contained In the Charity Commission's general
guidaTTrce on public benefit when reviewng the Tru51's alms and objectives and in planning luture activities and
setting the grant making policy for the year.
AchlevementB ond perfomiance
The Trust has established its grant making policy to achieve ils obiects for the public benefit. Grants were m8de in
Ilne with this policy during the year as set out in note 5 to the account3.
Flnanclal review
The Trustees are aware of their duty lo apply income funds of the charity within a reason8ble tlme of their iecelpt
and of the need to justify any income reserves. At 5 April 2025. the level of such incom8 reserves was £9,502,947
las compared with total Income reserves of £10,067,564 al 5 Apiil 20241. The Tru5tees' policy is lo maintain
sufficient income re5eNes to produce investment incorne of a level adequate tts meet anticipated charitable
expenditure, wlth a small amount 8V8i18ble for contingencies.
Trustees held the assets of the trust in accordance wlh their powers during the year. The Trustees have absolute
d15cretion to invest the fund5 01 the Trust,. no reslriclions are pla￿d on these powers. The Trustees, policy foi the
selection of investments fof the charity is to Seek to achieve a balance between incom8 and capital growth.
The Trust h8s a policy of retaining suffiaent unrestricted reseNes to finance its p18nned programffle and meel il
future financial obligations. For this purpose, the Trustees rnonitor financial performance and forecast future
commilments and reseNes for a minimum of 18 months ahead.
Plans for future perlodg
The Trustees propose to conbnue the policies outlined above in future years.
Structure, govemance and manag8mènt
Barnsbury Charitable Trust was established under a TNst deed dated 22 October 1964.
New Trustees 8re 8ppointed either to ffill 8 ¢asu81 vacar*cy or by %*dY of addition to the Board. Particular emphasis is
placed upon the 8ppolntment of Trustees with knowledge and experien￿ relevant lo the Trust's charitable activities.
When new Trustees are appointed they are given an introduction to the work of the Trust 8nd PfDvided with the
inforrnation they need to fulfil their roles, which indudes infomiation about the role of the Trustees and their
responsibilities under the Charities Act 2011.
The Board of Trustees meet regularty to 3drninister the charity and lo take decisions about the distribution of
charitable funds.
The Trustees have identified the major risks which may affect the tharity and have taken reaSona￿e steps to
m￿gate those risks.

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 5 APRIL 2025
The Tru5tee5 ale responsible for prep8rlng the Trustees Report and the finandal statements in accordance with
8pplicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Stsndard5 (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting
Practice).
The law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the Trustees to prepare financial staternents for each
financi81 ye8r which gSve a true and fair view of the slate of affairs of the trust and of the incoming resources and
applicafy'on of règources of the injsl for that year.
In preparing these financAal statemènts, the Trustees are required to..
select suitable accounting policie5 and then apply them consistently.,
observe the methods and prfnclples in Ihe Charits'es SORP.,
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent".
state whether 8pplicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed
and explained in the financial statement5'. and
prepare the finanaal statements on the golng concem basis unle8S It 18 in8ppropriate to presume that the charity
will continue in operation.
The Trustees are re8ponslble for keeping suffiuenl accounting records that disclose wth reasonable accuracy at
any lime the financial p051tion of the trust and enable them to ensure that the financlal statements comply with the
Charities Act 2011, the Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provisions of the trust deed. They
are also responsible for safeguarding the a5set5 of the trust and hence for taking reasonable steps for the
prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

As the Trustees of the trust you are ￿Sponsible for the preparation of the financial 818lements in accoTdance with
the requirernenls of the Charities Act 2011.
I report in iespect of my examination of the trust's financial statements carried out under section 145 of the Charities
Act 2011. In carrying out rny examination I have followed the Directions given by the Charity Gommission undgl
Section 14515llbl of the Charities Act 2011.

Your attention is drawn to the fact that the charity has prepared the financi81 statements in 8ccordance wilh the
relevant version of the Sl8tetnent of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their financial

B8rnsbury Charitable Trust Is a charity registered in England and Whales.
In preparing the accounts the following accounting policies have been complied with..
1.1 Accounting convèntlon
The finanual statements have been prepartrd In accordance with the Charrties Act 2011 and "Accounting 8nd
Reporting by Ch8rities.' Statement of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities preparing their accounts
in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard 8pplicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021
(effective 1 January 20191" The Charity is a Public Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102.
The Charity ha5 taken advantage of the provisions in the SORP foi charities applying FRS 102 Update
Bullelln 1 not to prepare a Statement of Cash Flows.
The finanrAal slat8rnents have been prepared under Ihe hlstorical cost convention, except for investments
wh￿￿ are shown at mhrket value.
The principal accounting poliries adopted are sel out below.
1.2 Going concern
Al the lime of approving the fin8ncial statements. the Trustees have a ￿asonable expectation that the trust
has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable luture. Thus the Trustees
contillue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in prep8ring the financi81 statements.
1.3 Income
Income is generally recognised on a receivable ba515 and reported gross of related expenditure, vthere the
amounts are reasonably ￿rtain 8nd when there is adequate ￿rtaInty of receipt,

Income arising on inveslrnents, together with any associated t8x credit is recognised in the year In which it is
re￿1Vable. Interest on deposit accounts is credited in the ye8r in which it 15 receNed.
1.4 Expendltur•
Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals ba515 and gross of any related income. Costs are classified under
headings that aggregate all costs related to Ihe category. Wher8 Costs cannot b8 directly attributed to
particular he8dings. they have been 8llocated to activib.es on a basis consistent wlh the use of resources.
Costs of charitable activity ¢omprlse d1￿ct expenditure including donations.
Expenditure on donations is recorded once the Trust has made an uncondilional commitment to Pay the
donations and thi5 is communicated to the beneficiary or the donation h85 been paid, whichever is the e8Tlier.
Governance costs include those costs, such as independent examinerfs l auditor'8 fees, assOC18ted wth
constitutional and statutory requirements.
1.5 Flxed asset Investsnènts
Invgstments are included in the balance sheet at market value. Quoted investments have been valued at
middle market Pri￿5 at, or within a week of, the balance sheet date. Gains or losses arising on revaluation to
market value are credited or charged in the Statement of Financial Activities as they arise.
These are held in the name of the trustees and the approprfate investment ￿rtthcates weie held by Messrs
Lawrence Graharn on behalf of the trustees at the d8te of these accounts. During the period of these accounts
Lawrence Gr8harn hos not received any surns in rgspect ol shared comrni5sion.
