The Trust does not consider applications from individuals. The Twstees are directed to apply the Income or capital of the Trust Fund to such charitable purpose or purposes and in such proportion as ihey rnay from tirne to time in their sole discretion think fit. Achievements and perfomiance The Trust has established its grant maklng policy to achieve its objects for the public benefft. Grants were made in line with thi5 policy during the year as set out in note 510 the accounts. Flnanclol revlew The Trustees 8re aware of iheir duly to apply income fund5 of the charity within a reasonable lime of their receipt and of the need to justfy any income reserves. At 5 Aprll 2023, the level of such income reserves was £8,239,822 (as cornp81ed with total income r8setves of £8.219,814 at S April 20221. The Trustees, policy 15 to maintain sufficient incorne ￿SerVeS lo produce investment incorne of a level adequate lo meet anticipated charitable expenditure, wth small amount available lof contingencRs. Trustees held the 8ssets of the trust in accordance with their powers during the year. The Trustees have absolute discretion lo invest the funds of the Trust,. no restrictions are placed on these powers. The Trustees, policy for the selection of investments for the charity is to seek to achieve a balance between income and capital growth. The Trust has a policy of retaining sufficient unrestricted reserves to finance ils planned programrne and meet its luture financial oblig8lions. For this purp95e, the Trustees monitor financial perfomance and forec8St future commilmenis and r8serve5 for a minimum of 18 months ahead. Structure, governance and management Bamsbury Charitable Trust was established under a Trust deed dated 22 October 1964. New Trustees are app￿nted erther to fill a casu81 vacancy or by way of addition lo the Board. Particular emphasis is placed upon the appointment of Trustees with knowledge and experience relevant to the Trust's charit8ble activities. en new Trustees ale appointed they are given an introduction to the work of the Trust and provided with the information they need to fu5fil their roles, which includes infomiation about the role of the Trustees and their responsibilities under the Charities Act 2011. The Board ol Trustees meet regular￿ to administer the charty and to take decisions about the distrlbution of charitable funds. The prlncipal accounting policies adopted are set out below. 1.2 Golng concern At the tSme of approving the financial statement5. the Trustees h8ve a reasonable expectation that the Charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existen￿ for the foreseeable future. Thus Ihe Trustees continue to adopt the going concern b8sis of accounting in preparing Ihe financial statement5. 1.3 Ineome Incorne is generally recognised on a receiv8ble basis and reported gross of related expenditure. where the arnO￿nts are reasonably ￿rtain and when there is adequate ￿rtaintY of receipt. The following specific policies are applied to particular categories of incorne.. Income arising on investments. together with any associated tax credit is recognised in the y8ar in which il is receivablo. Interest on deposit accounts is credited in the year in which it is received. 1A Expenditure Expenditure is accounted for on an accnjals b8sis and gros5 of any related income. Costs are dassthed undei he8dings that aggregate all costs related to the category. Vvhere costs cannot be directly atlrlbuted to particular headings, they have been allocated lo activitses on 8 basis consistent with the use of resources. Cosis of charitable activity comprise direct expenditure induding donations. Expenditure on donations 1$ recorded once the Trust has made an unconditional commitment to pay the donation5 and this is communicated to the beneficlary or the donation has been paid. whichever is the earfier. Govemance costs include those costs, such as independent examiner's l auditor's fees, associated with ¢onstitutional and statutory requirements. 1.5 Fixed asset Investments Investments are included in the b81&n￿ sheet at Market value. Quoted investments have been valued at Middle market prices at. or within a week of, the balance street date. Gains or losse5 arising on revaluation to market value are credited or charged in the Statement ol Financial Actlvlties as they arlse. These are held in the name of the tru5tee$ and the appropriate investment certifi￿leS were held by Messrs Lawrence Graham on behalf of the trustees at the date ol these accounts. During the period of these accounts Lawrence Graham has not received any sums in ￿SpeCt of shared comrnission.
