The charity is operated under the rules of its conveyance adopted 29 December 1961.
## **Objectives and activities**
The maintenance and letting of the Clifton Village Hall; the maintenance of the School House and the management of its tenancy; and the organisation of charitable events.
## **Public benefit statement**
The Trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit, 'Charities and Public Benefit'.
## **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit**
The provision of a venue for the social, cultural, spiritual, political and wellbeing lives of the people of the Clifton Village and the surrounding area; the provision of a house for rent; and the provision of a car park for those using the hall and renting the School House.
## **Summary of the main achievements during the period**
Following the impact of the COVID pandemic the previous 2 years, the Village Hall has been increasingly busy with a wide range of activities involving both regular groups and ad hoc users. The School House has continued to be occupied by the same tenant. Both the Village Hall and the School House have been maintained as required and all annual maintenance has taken place. The Trust took the decision to defer the new development (planning approval was received in September 2020) until 2023 and commissioned an architect to produce technical drawings and to manage the project.

## **The Clifton Village Hall Trust**
This new development will provide a much needed new entrance and a new multiuse room, an extended kitchen and improved storage facilities.
## **The charity’s policy on reserves**
The charity has no specific policy with regard to the level of reserves.
## **Financial Review**
We hold a significant sum of money on deposit to fund the development work on the hall later in 2023.
A risk is potential overspend on the forthcoming building project. We are negotiating for a loan agreement to cover any shortfall.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of The Clifton Village Hall Trust (the charity) for the year ended 31 December 2022.
## **Responsibilities and basis of report**
As the trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
## **Independent examiner’s statement**
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
