Legal Stat115 Long Eaton & District Mencap Society- Happivale Social Club is a registered society with the Charltv Commission. no.236095. Long Eaton and District Mencap Soclety- Happivale Social Club Happivale provides recreallon and leisure activities for people living with a learning disablllty wlth the object of improving their rnental and physical well-being. Organisation The Soclety Is a local Mencap soclety, which Is In partnership with Mentap natlonally, but IS autonomous and has Its own independent constitution. The governlng body of the Society Is the Executive Committee. It has the power to appolnt sub committees as it thinks necessary to meet Its responsibilities. The Charities Cornmission has atcepted the Constitution for the organisation. All Volunteers/Committee members will. during the course of their duties, have the occasion when they will be handling monies in connection with the club and its members Revlew of developments, activities, and achievements The principal components of the Reserve Fund are maintenance of the building, replacement of furniture and equipment, training, and a general fund. We paid for an external professional to revlew the buildin8 to SUPPOrt future planning of maintenance of the building over the coming years. This wa5 funded as agreed by Trustees though our reseNes. We delivered Club artivitie5 on both Monday and Friday evenlngs17-9pml throughout the year. We also held two fundraising fayres, took part In the Long Eaton Carnival Parade, facilitated a bowling trip and celebrated the King'5 Coronation. Avrll Cook continued as Happivale Club Co-ordinator and supported the plannlng and delivery of activltles for members. We have been successful with a number of grants from grant making bodies to support activities during the year and on to 2024.
LONG EATON AND DISTRICT MENCqP SOCIErY HAPPIVALE SOCIAL CLUB TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT For the year ended 31" December 2023 Income & Expenditure The Charities Income for the period amounted to £37,948. Donations and grants amounted to £20,411 including £300 from Long Eaton Rotary, £400 in memory of Pamel3 Peel, £208 from the Erewa5h Mayor, £100 from the Ladie5 of the Inner Wheel. £150 from the Friendship Hub and £100 from Sawley Community Association. During the year we have received restricted funds from grant making bodies including £75 Erewash Borough Council. £2,426.05 from Mencap/Sport England, £1,535.96 Community Matters for delivery of activitie5 during this financial year as well a5 £10,000 Awards for All, £500 British Science Association and £4.660 from Derbyshire Mind for activities and spend in 2024. We continue to receive a contribution toward5 tran5POrt costs from the Long Eaton members who travel in our minibus. Fund Raising amounted to £1,602 inc5uding £374.10 raised from Jenny's Raffles. Jenny has now raised £1,539.05 towards equipment and activities for the club. The Happivale Club's subscriptions for the period were £5,954 plus £3,220 contributions for the Long Eaton minibus. The restricted fund5 income reflects £2,874 toward5 Ilkeston transport. The Charities Expenditure for the period amounted to £32,134 giving u5 an overall 5urplu5 of £5,785. Although to note, some funds received £15,160 are for expenditure in 2024. Happivale Club Happivale Club provides facilities for anyone with learning difficulties over the age of 16 and enables them to participate in Social activities which they may otherwise be unable to do. The Club meets every Monday and Friday evening between 7pm and 9pm excluding bank holiday5 Currently we have around 70 members with the average attendance of 40 to 50 per session. Fridav nights are the m05t popular. Included in the membership figures are people from Ilkeston Iwho come on their own minibus) and across the borough. Some of the members may need to bring their Dwn carers, but Happivale r(self has around 16 volunteers available to run the activities and fundraise. The events and activitie5 are based on a monthly programrne and included new activities which the members thDrou8hly enjoyed including 3ctivities within our Healthy Happivale project such as line dancing, a basketball session, walking netball, boxercise. yoga and healthy food. The club also celèbrates Burn5 Night. Bonfire Night and ha5 parties and discos for Valentine's Day, Christmas Dav and New Year. Our New Year disco food was provided by the Ladies of the Inner Wheel. Throughout the year we hold a variety of fkJnd-rai5ing activities to increase funds and also receive many generous donations from the local community and organisations.
We continue to work with and are in partnership with Mencap and as such we comply with all the correct working conditions and have installed relevant policies. Health and Safety and Insurance During the year the Fire Extinguishers have been serviced, emergency lighting insperted, and batteries replaced. PATtestingwas carried out. Fire Drills were held at regular intervals and the First Aid Cabinet checked and restocked. The central heating boiler has been serviced. All necessary insurance policies relating to the Charity, its running, and volunteer protection have been undertaken. The Club has passed it5 food safety check by the Borough Council. All volunteer5 have current DBS checks with certificates and we trained volunteer5 in first aid. Reserves Policy and Risk Management Unrestricted funds are needed.. lal To provide funds that can be designated to specific projects to enable them to be undertaken at short notice. Ibl To cover administration, fund raising ènd support costs without which the charity could not function. The Trustees consider it pru¢Jent that the unrestricted reserve5 should be sufficient.. lal To avoid the necessity of releasing fixed assets for the Charity's use and Ibl To cover 3 years. costs. The level of resetves is monitored and reviewed by the Trustees throughout the year. We currently have the reserves to cover l years expenditure on demand and for a further 2 years at l(M) days notice. The Trustees review the major risks that the charity faces and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate our exposure to those major risks. Results The re5uIt5 for the year and the Charities financial position at the end of the year are shown in the attached financial staternents. Independent Examiner A resolution to re-appoint RWB Chartered Accountant a5 the independent examiner for the ensuing year will be proposed at the AGM.
