Historyg objectives and activities
The original Charity was for the w of the PaTish of St Pet¢rs. The church and some of the
surrounding land was IKJmiKd in the Sec(ynd World War and w&8 redeveloped as the Broa(hnead
Shopping Centre. C(wuently. there remained no prishion¢rs of St Peters to l(Kyk after.
Th¢ Charity w&$ amalgamated with a number of Small ¢xtin¢t charities and on 15th March 1974
the Charity Commission i&su¢d a Scheme of Attangcment under which the Charity cutTetrtty
op¢rat¢s.
The principal activities of the Chartties remain unchanged. The Trustees apply the yearly income
of thc Charities in r¢lieving either gener311y or individually peT50ns who are in u)nditions of nesl
hardship or distress and resident in the City and County of Bristol.
The Trustees confimi they have complied with their duty under th¢ Charities Act 2011 to have

obtain benefit from the Charity.
Th¢ appropriation of the income of the Charitie5 tllU5t b¢ madc by thc Trustees at meetings of their
body and not separately by any individual Tn￿ee or Trustees. Historically, the majority of grants
were Tnade by th¢ T￿SteeS after considering applications submitted by oificets of Bristol Cty

requirements of the 1974 Schem¢ of Arrangement for the distribution of income and the Charitie5
Act 2011 can be met in 2 Cost effective way, the Trustees. several years ago: decided to continue to
consider applications submitted by Officers of Bristol City Council i>ut to supplement these with
individual applications from I￿al charities.

onsid¢r that an audit is Dot Tequired under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 and that an

It is my resw)nsibility to:

and a comparison of the accounts p￿sented with those records. It also includes consid¢ration of
any unusual items or disclosure5 in the accounty and seeking explanations from you as trustees
concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that
would IK required in an audiL and consequently I do not ￿presS an audit opinion on the view
given by the accounts.
