In the Autumn Rosie Hoare organised 3 well attended music events and a new makers marker was launched at the Christmas shopping event in December. The website was revamped to promote the venue and allow people to book events online.

In January, the Market Hall Trustees improved the kitchen facilities. This would not have been possible without the work of the trustees and the contractor DBS projects. Jen Morcom, the Assistant Clerk worked hard to ensure the venue could reopen safely by creating coronavirus cleaning stations and guidance for users. Judy Chesterfield continued doing an excellent job of cleaning the hall.

The Trust would like to say a particular thank you to the Trustees who gave their considerable expertise for free.

The Trustee The Market Hall c/o Saxmundham Town Council Station Approach Saxmundham Suffolk IP17 1AF

12[th] May 2022

Dear Trustee,

## **– Independent examination The Market Hall, Charity No 235072**

2021-22 Income £41,397; expenditure = £35,007; Reserves £15,622

Bank balance as at 31[st] March 2020 was £12,293.17

The Market Hall is a charity set up with the objective:

“A market hall to be used for such useful or benevolent purposes in connection with the town or district of Saxmundham as the Trustees sanction including the user thereof as a court house for magistrates meetings and the county council.”

## The Charity’s governing documents are:

- Indenture dated 16 January 1893

- Charity Commission Scheme dated 12 October 1920

The Charity has a sole Trustee, Saxmundham Town Council. Councillors sit in charity meetings as the corporate body. Two sub groups, the Market Hall Development Group and the Market Hall management Committee work to oversee the operation of the market Hall and refurbishment works.

The 2020/21 Annual Return was submitted 14[th] October 2021, well within the deadline for filing. Note the latest filing date for the accounts for 2021/22 is 31[st] January 2022.

The Town Council provide administration without charge and Annual accounts are presented to the Town Council as sole Trustee.

The year-end accounts were examined and all found to be in order. There are no matters which give me cause to believe that in, any material respect, the Trustees have not met the requirements of the Charity Act 2011.
