The Trustees present their annual repY)rt for the year ended 31st December 2024
under the Charities Act 2011 and 2022. together with the independently examined
accourits for the year. arma confirm thal ts latter comply with the requirements of the
Act. the Trust Deeds arKI trbe Charities SORP (FFIS102) 2019.
Objects ot the Charltles
The Trustees of Dean Row Chapel ￿ld ts freetK)kl laTrJ arKI tmjiklings of the Chapel
and make it available for tt* Dissents'ng Congregation. which is a member of the
General Assembly of UniLqrian a￿1 Ffee Chrislian Churc￿, for their religious
observance.
The Trustees of the Manse for Minister, hawng sold the manse and scho)Iroom,
with Charity Cornrnission c￿Sent, have used the ryoce&Js:
1 } To build a Chapel Hall (The Tercentenary Hall) completed in 1994 to replace the
schoolroom;
2) To purchase a manse for the accornmodation of the minister.
The Congregational Comrnittee. through rts officers. administer day to day running
of the Chapel. Hall and Manse.
Any new Trustees of both Trusts are recruited from memters of the congregation by
the Trustees,. the congregational officers arKI comrnittee members are appointed ai
annual meelings ot the members of the congregation in accordan￿ with Chapel ru￿$.
Chapel services tske place at 11.15 am each Sunday arKI were held on every Sunday
throughout the year. Anyone is Nvelcome to attend these services. Average
congregatsonal attendances at these services were 45 during 2024 against 41 in the
previous year. There are aiso meetings every Wednesday in the vesty for quiei
meditatron. There are currently $1 ￿rnbarS, many of whom support the Chapel
financially through p1anr￿ giving, usualty augrnented by Gift AMI.
The Chapel is ￿(rentlY represented on the local 8￿Men1¢al association, "Churches
Together in Wilms1￿￿.
The Chapel is a member ol the General Assembly of Unitarian arxl Free Christian
Churches and the Manchester District AssoLiation of Unitarian and Free Christian
Churches.
The Chapel provides premises for the WEekly meetiThJs of the Dean Row Chapel
Stroke Club arKI an exerose class for elderly people.
The Chapel gives financial SUp￿t kn a number of charitses and organisatsons.

The Chapel benefits greatty from the generous donatK>n of time by many members of
the congregation in woviding Pulpit Supply in the absen￿ of the Minister, in the
maintenance ot the bu'lding and grourKls and the aikninistration for ts Chapel and
Hall.
The Reverend Jeffrey Lane Gould is the full-time minister of Dean Row Chapel and its
sister Cha￿1, Hale Chapel.
The two major Charities connected with the Chapel are so interlinked that the accounts
are prepared to efflbrace tK>th. The Trustees of both Charities and the cx)ngregational
commtttee w(Kk harM￿louS1Y together to further vknat are seen as ￿Mbined
objectives.
Maln Achlevements of the CharlUe8 durlng the Yoar
The Chapel has enjoyed the services of a full-tirne minister for the ￿018 of Ihe year,
together with reta.ning a thriving ￿￿mberShIp.
Flnanclal Infomwllon
For the year 21Y24. experKliture exceeded irw1￿ ty £17.022. This was due in large
part to an increase in our contributions for the cost of our ministy (see below). There
were also fai fewer weddings and ba￿"SM5 than Ffeviously arKI we did rM)t benefft
from legacies as in pa* years. Utility ￿st for Electrw was much hig￿￿1 than before
due to general irKYeases in rates.
The Chapel does not (threclly ernploy any staff. The Minister. ￿ services ale
shared by the Chapel's sistsr Chapel in Hale is paid for by Haldean Committee.
which is a joint committee of both Chapels and to which both Chapels make financial
¢ontributs'ons. The Haldean Committee admini¥(ers sts'pend and expenses of the
Minister arKI aC￿Unts for ts ststutory payments io Her Majesty's Revenue and
Custorrts.
Donations to various charities arKI oth8r Unitarian causes were made arnounting to
£3.365 (2023 - £2.934).
The Trustees are responsible f(x keeping a(x￿Unting recx)rds which are such as to
disclose, with reasonable accuracy. the financial positi'on of the Charities at any time,
and to enable them as Trustees to ensure that the accounts comply with Charities
Law. The Trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the Charities. assels and
ensure their proper application in accordance with Charity Law. and hence for taking
reasonable steps for the prevention aNI detecti￿ of error, fraud and other
irregulariites.

became apparent that the bellcote on the western end of the chaFel has develoFed a
significant lean and is in a dangerous condrtion. After an aborted planning application
because English Heritage and others were Most concerned Ihat we cary out the
repairs in sympathy with the heritage of our building, we have appointed Mark Pearce,

our architect to manage ￿ project We have now ￿ganiZed a Heritsge siatement
and full survey to pass to skxcialist C￿traCtorS for fimi qLK>tstions.
The project is experted to be quite costy and ￿ will be making applications to various
tKKlies for gTant aid. notably the Heritage Lottery Fund. In the meantime. we have set
up a Project ReseNe lor (knnations. This had re8Cr￿d the sum 01 £14,502 by yeaf end.
helped significantly by a sp&3fic donat￿ of £5.LKK) from the late Michael Heale as
well as money from lund raisi￿ a￿1VitieS incl￿￿1￿ a cl￿￿

aspects of public lrfe and in supports'fYJ the institutions of marriage and in providing
fi'nanaal support for otr*r charities.
