Tre trustees present thelr report arKI accounts for the year ended 31 December 2024.
The financial slatements have been prepared in accordan￿ with the aco)unting
poli￿e$ set out in note 1 to the acc¢Junts and compty with the charity's trust deed, the
Charities Act 2011 and Accounting and Reporting by Charibes: Statement of
Recommended practi￿ applicable to charibes preparing their accounts in a¢cordan
with the Financial Reporttng StsrKlard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland
(FRS 102).
OBJECTIVES AND AcTI￿lEs
Principle Objectives
The principal obiectsve of the chaiity is to unite Christians in prayer.
Activities
The trust furthers Its charitable purposes for the public benefft by".
holding services on the first Friday in March ead) year,
fostering local interdenominats'onal prayer groups and other activities to bring
women together in closer fellowship, understanding and action throughout
the year.,
{iii) the distribution of Christian literalure.
(iv)
supporting women throughout the workl wth infonnal prayer and prayerful
actions,. and
assisting projects, financially or othephise. run by Christian charrties
throughout the world.

During the year, the chanty continued ts objects. The major event wth financial
implications is the organisation of the Day of Prayer in March each year. This year
it was held on 1 March 2024 with the theme of .1 beg you, bear with one another in
love. prepared by Palestinian women.
After meeting overhead expenses and maintaining reserves at a level stated in the
policy of the trustees, the National Committee allocates surplus income by making
grants to as51St projects run by Christian charities throughout the world.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE (CONTINUED)
The trustees wtsh to exwess thelf gratit￿le to all those who have provided support in
prayer, in time and financially during Ihe year. Donations received during the year
were £331.854 (2023: £268,998). with those under Gift Aid resulting in a repaymenl
of £30,968 {2023: £28,093). Grants paid to support Chiisttan V￿rk throughout the
world were £126,953 (2023: £108.686).
FINANCIAL REVIEW
The charity's work.is entirety reliant upon the collections re￿Ned at the annual Day
of Prayer. During the year, income to the Unrestricted Income Fund increased to
£427.099 (2023: £336,673) and expendihjre Increased to £426,907 12023:
£362.477). There was a surplus for the year of £192 (2023: deficit of £25.774). The
charity's freehold propety was revalued duTing the year and an unrealised gain of
£36,000 arose. After transferring £30.000 to the Contingency Fund. the balance was
£114.901 (2023: £108.709).
The Conlingency Fund. a Designated Fund, had a balan￿ carried fomard at 31
Decémber 2024 of £285.000 (2023: £235.0(M)}. The Fund provides the resources to
meet the cost of the Day of Prayer for one year in the event of lack of income due to
unforeseen arcumstances, sudi as ac￿rred in the COVID-19 crisis in January 2020.
ReseNes Policy
The Gost of printing and distributtng the service materials Is substantial and the
trustees took a policy decision a number of years ago to keep in reserves sufficient
funds to meet any obltgations. partÈcularfy to Ihe printer. for the next year, in the event
of a major dedine in the income of the ¢*iarity. whith is matnty from the freewill
donations colle(aed at the annual seN[￿.
In May 2021, the trustees agreed to increase the annual transfer from the General
Fund to the Conts'ngency Fund from £5,000 to £30,IYJO a year for the following four
years. The trustees have agreed that £30.(M)O should continue to be set aside and
transfe￿ed into the Contingency Fund for the next five years, with a remew to take
pla￿ in tsvo year5. time.

The trustees have examined the major strategic business and operational risks
which the charity fa￿ and confirm that the systems have been established to
enable regular reports to be produced so that necessary steps can be taken to
le55en these risks.
The main risk is tat attendan￿ at services on the Day of Prayer is reduced, as
occurred in 2018 due to severe weather conditions, wulting in a significant
reduction in income from collections. Oter risks indude a repeat of the national
lockdown as a result of another pandemic and services not teing held due to political
sensitivities within different branches about the material or county being
celebrated.
Plans for the Futu
The trustees wll ￿ntinue to fac¥litate the annual Day of Prayer and encourage an
increased number of participants in this worldwide wave of prayer. The trustees aim
to develop the use of electronic communication technology and to grow the links with
Worfd Day of Prayer organisations in other parts of the wotkj.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Constitution
The trust is a registered un1nc0rp)rat￿ thaiity which operates under a Constitution,
adopted on 21 January 1964 and amended by resolutions dated 20 September
1968, 14 January 1969, 11 July 1972, 2 July 1983. 12 March 1991. 20 May 1997, 18
September 2001, 1 February 21)03, 19 May 2009 and 1 January 2017. The trust was
registered with the Charity Commission on1 January 1965.
At the annual general m￿tir￿j held 0 15 May 2018. it was agreed to change the
name of the charity from The National Committee of the Women's World Day of
Prayer for England, Wales and Northem Ireland to World Day of Prayer National
Committee for England, Wales and Northem Ireland. It is known as Day of
Prayer- A women led, global. ecumenical Movemenr.

Trustees
The trustees are appointed for a ￿riod of six years to seNe two years in each of the
offi￿S of Vice£hairperson, Chairperson and President New trustees will have had
previous involvement wth the World Day of Prayer and will be aware of tt)e charity's
aims and objectives. The outgoing trustees provide advice on the roles and
responsibilities of the positions.
The National Committee is responsible for all decision making and is made up of
representatives from the main Christian denominations, the officers of the charity and
one representative from each of English speaking churches in Wales, the Welsh
speaking churches in Wales and from Northem Ireland. The trustees and members of
the National Commrttee grve their time free. No trustee re￿iVed any remuneration
during the year or in the previous year and note 11 discloses the travel, telephone
and Offi￿ expenses reimbursed. There are around two Ihousand branches operating
in England and Wales and Northem Ireland, which are facilitated by the National
Committee through its administrative offi￿.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the World Day of Prayer
National Committee from EnglarKI, Wales and Northern Ireland (°the Twsf) for the
year ended 31 De￿rnber 2024.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND BASIS OF REPORT
As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation of the
accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Chartttes Act 2011 fthe Acn.
I report in respect of my examination of the Trusys accounts carried out under section
145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable
Directions given by the Chanty Commission under section 145{5)(b) of the Act.
INDEPENDE￿ EXAPAINER'S STATEMEKr
The charity's gross income ex￿eded £250,CKIO and l am qualified to undertake the
examination by being a qualffied memter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in
England and Wales.
I have completed my examination. I confirm Ihat no material matters have come to my
attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in
any material respecL"
the accounting records were not kept in accordan￿ *ith section 130 of the Act

the accounts did not accord wilh the accounting records" or
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements conceming the
fomi and content of accounts set oui in the Charities (Accounts and Reports)

The Designated Fund is Contingency FurKI whTth comprises amounts set aside
to provide sufficient funds to meet the (x)st of the Day of Prayer for one year. A
transfer of £30,tK)O Ès made frorn the General Fund each year. In addition, the
trustees may make fuither transkn for pury)ow.
(c) Income Recognltion
All inu)me is recognised once the charity has entrttement to the Income, there Is
sufficient certainty of receipt so it is probable that Ihe incorrE will be re￿Ived, and
the amount of income Rcetvable can be measured relÈably.

The trustees all gtve freely of their time and expertise. wifhout any form of
remuneration or other benefit in I￿sh or kind (2023.'nil). During the year three
trustees were reimbutsed £4.743 (2023: £7.497) for travel, telephone and office
expenses inwrred in CL)nnection the operation of the charity.
