Fumess and Barrow Br8nch is autonomous and operates wlthin the Branch Rules and with connections to the National Body of the RSPCA. Th6 recruitment and appointment of Trustees is performed by inviting members of the tocal Branch to be on the committee. Nominations to stand tor election are sent to all Members betore the AGM. Eligible members then elect Trustees of the Branch each year. Polictes and procedures for the training of the trustees are through written guidance from the National body. The Branch has 4-6weekly committee meetings which are minuted. The Branch is insured through a RSPCA national policy which perform tasks and assessments where necessary. Selected members of our Branch attend group meetings with other branches in the Northwest region. Our regional board representative attends meetings in the region and addresses issues that arise which are relevant to the Branch. We regularly update our Facebook and website pages with advice and information for ourfollowers. We also advertise our Fundraising events which arevery popular. The branch is in contsctwith other local groups that offer rehoming. petfinding and infonnation. The charityexists to promote animalwelfare and prevent cruelty in the Furness area and to prIde a rehomingservice for case and inspectorate sign overs tor cats. dogs and small furrie&lreptiies. Work with dogs is limited due to lack of suitable kennel facilitie& The8eobjective8 are largely performed through our advice centre. We promote neutering and welfare 88SiStance towards veterinary care through ourvouchèr system and our c108eworking relationship with localvets. All animals we rehome are neutered, . microchipped and inoculated. Our branch volunteers attend home vlsitinrfcourses to assist with this aspect of our work. The RSPCA Att¥lce Centre at 106 Church Street, Barrow In Furness Is open to the publlc on Mondayand Tuesdayfrom 9.30am to 4.30pm (Closes for lunch) and Frlday9.30am to 3.30pm
2024 w8s a busy year for rehoming we have rehomed 8 total of50 Cats. Our holdlng pens 8re constantly in use, 8nd we 8180 h8V8 Q number of fosterers taking ¢8re of our cats, helping to sociallse and tr8in them r08dy lor their forever homes. We h8vo noticed 8n increase in the members ofthe public asking for our help with veterinary bills for treatment whetherthls is for emergencies or unexpected illnesses. In 2024 issueo 198 vouchers for neutering and ml¢x)chipping. We have also helped several members otthe public in need of financial a$$ist8nce through no fault of thelr own. Our IMAdlngpens 8r8 proving uselul for us to take In cats th8t nwj trnatm or help with recovery from injurles and for rnadyto be rehomed. 'We ha¥0 dedlc8ted Yolunteers and staff who come In to tske care ofthem. without their help this would be very difficult for us to do. We are grateful forthe lime and effort you put in everyweek.

Volunteers and our wonderful adminlstration lady, Gill. vtho are always willing to go that little bit extra. As 8 local branchwe have p85sed through yet another difficultyeai of changes and accomplishments. with many c8ts and kittens requirlng to be re-homed and looked after. We are 8Iw8ys on the lookout for fosterers who would be willing to look after some of our c8ts and kittens so that they can be socialised 8nd integrated back into pemianent lovingfamily homes. We have Ov80m8 some obstacles this year with regards to outside bodies, but as 8 Bnch we have pulled together and managed to get through some ofthese drfficult times. Once again. We h8ve29 members ofthe branch (down 2 from lagtyear). We held 6 commsttee meetings, the AGM in June and a Christmas party in December. Ourm8inso¢i81 media site is Facebook, where we advertise ourcats. fundraisingevents, infomiation 8nd anything else Te18ted to the branch andlor animals. We have 5,100 LIKES lup by200from lastyearl and 6,100 FOLLOWERS lup by400from lastyearl. 58% are fmm Barrow-in-Fumess 10% are from Ulverston 8% are from Dalton-in-Furness 4% arefrom Millom The rest are scattered around the country l&theworld!11 Wecontinueto supportthe local community by providing n8Utering. microchipping & veterinaryvouchers and providingfood. All the cats we take in are nowf rom the public, we have taken in a range ot cats. from kittens to older cats. some with health issues and lifelong . Nowthat have a fundraising coordinator. the money raised helps to fund the above, thete were 4 tundraising events last year. plus we receive donations via Facebook posts. Most of the prizes for these events are donated by our followeis. We also receive a lot of donations of food, etc trom the pubuc. We have had a successlulye8rfrom fundraisingeventswhich we have recelved a gr8nd total of £8953.22. special thanks to Michelle lor orgonising 811 our ev8nts vthlch prove extremely popular. OurHead Office grantthlsye8rwas £18520.10. We 8rg only a small Branch, and we would not be able to contlnue without 811 these donatlons. We make SLtre 811 the funds we receive are spent on the anlm81s we t8k8 in and to help with local members of the public. Our m8in outgoings for the year are veterinary care tot811ing £17,857.88. We have also Spent just over £6000.00 on food, cat litter and equipment for the cats we h8ve taken In overthe past year.
